Kess’ heart beat wildly at the sound of the familiar voice. Quickly, she spun around. Her eyes widened, and her mouth dropped open. There he stood with his hands on his hips and the familiar smile on his face.
“Mac? Mac!” she screamed and ran toward him. The weakness that had consumed her was gone at the sight of him. Kess threw her arms around his neck, as he bent down to pick her up. “Mac? Mac? Is it really you?” It was all she could manage to say.
“Yes, it’s really me.” He gave her a quick hug and put her back down on the ground. Mac’s hands rested on her shoulders while a thumb traced her dirtied chin. “Kess it’s so good to see you.”
