Chapter 11 Not Afraid of Trouble

1340 Words
To welcome Rosalind's arrival properly, Sylvia booked the restaurant half a month in advance. It didn't because she wanted to make a fuss. The only reason was that The Palace Cuisine was too popular. The Palace Cuisine definitely ranked among the top three restaurants in Dethel in terms of its food, decoration, and level. The popularity also made it difficult to make a reservation. It was much more difficult than making reservations in other restaurants. Rosalind had Elroy in her arms as she observed the interior decoration of The Palace Cuisine, saying, "No wonder the restaurant soon won its place in Dethel. The decoration here has made its prices reasonable. As a designer, Rosalind pursued beautiful things. It was kind of her nature, so it also made her a picky designer. However, this restaurant was perfect in her eyes because even the decorations were placed in the extra right places. "I'm not qualified to book a private room here. I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we will have to have a meal in the lobby." Sylvia stuck her tongue out at Rosalind and pulled the chair for her. After she helped lay a cushion on Elroy's seat, she went to her seat. Rosalind wiped Elroy's hands while glancing at Sylvia, saying, "Don't be sorry. Here in the lobby, we can see the whole picture of the restaurant. I like the style and atmosphere here." They chatted casually but failed to notice someone stopping beside their table. "Sylvia?" The man's voice sounded young and energetic. Rosalind stopped talking and looked over, seeing a man in a suit. His eyes were long and narrow, and his face seemed to have feminine features to some extent. After a simple glance, Rosalind concluded that the man was handsome. Sylvia froze from the moment she heard the voice. After a long time, she pretended as if nothing had happened, taking a spoon to fill Rosalind's bowl with soup. However, she was such a bad liar that her trembling fingertips betrayed her emotions. Rosalind had never seen her friends like this. Sylvia's expression was so depressed, as if she had lost her soul. "Can the Benson family afford your consumption here in The Palace Cuisine?" Rosalind didn't know much about Sylvia's family background, but she could tell from Sylvia's consumption habits and literacy that her family was decent. But what did the man mean? Sylvia put down the soup spoon with a pale face, saying, "It's none of your business! Jeremy Daniel, get the hell out of here before I get angry!" "You're angry with me?" Jeremy smiled as his seductive eyes lit up. "Do you still think you are the lady of the Benson family who could take anyone as your punching bag?" Rosalind's face darkened. Her intuition told her that the man was part of the reasons why Sylvia went back here without saying goodbye a few years ago. Rosalind stood up suddenly, held Elroy in her arms, and whispered to him, "Baby, ask your Auntie to send us home." As soon as Elroy heard Rosalind's words, he immediately extended his hand toward Sylvia, saying, "Auntie, I want to eat the egg custard you made. Shall we go home and eat it?" "Sure." Sylvia tried hard to hold back her tears, pulled her chair out, and planned to leave. "Stop there!" Jeremy pulled Sylvia's arm. "Did I allow you to leave?" As soon as he touched Sylvia, Sylvia acted as if she was entangled by a poisonous snake. Her face was ashen as she stepped backward, but her scared face was hard to hide. Somehow, when Sylvia got rid of Jeremy, Rosalind seemed to have seen a moment of sorrow in Jeremy's eyes. Sylvia lifted the back of her hand to cover her eyes. "Mr. Daniel, you've got what you wanted and achieved your purpose. Can't you just pretend that we are strangers?" Jeremy's face twisted when he heard the word "strangers". He refuted immediately, "Strangers? Don't even think about it!" With great rage, Jeremy lost control and pulled Sylvia harder. Sylvia failed to get rid of him, so she was pulled to the table all of a sudden, and an overturned soup pot splashed on her face. Rosalind's face was gloomy. She put Elroy aside and slapped Jeremy without hesitation. Jeremy was at a loss for the fact that he just hurt Sylvia unintentionally. He came to his senses when the slap sound sounded and reached out to catch Rosalind's arm. With red eyes and a twisted expression, he questioned Rosalind fiercely, "What the hell are you to slap me?" Jeremy wasn't as weak as he seemed to be. The customers around them seemed to know who Jeremy was and didn't dare defend Sylvia and Rosalind. Even though Jeremy had Rosalind's arm grasped, Rosalind wasn't panicking but took the soup beside her with her other hand and poured it from the top of Jeremy's head. Since Jeremy tried to control both the two women who kept struggling at the same time, he couldn't hide but was wetted by the soup. As the greasy soup dripped down his hair, his scarlet eyes widened as if blood was about to pour out. "Good for you!" "Thank you for your compliment." Rosalind didn't seem to have sensed the pain on her wrist, her beautiful eyes were full of ridicule. "You splashed her with a bowl of soup, and I repay you with a larger bowl of soup. My loss." "Rosalind, stop it!" Jeremy was someone they could never afford to mess with at present. Sylvia didn't want Rosalind to be targeted by Jeremy because of her. Of course, Rosalind knew that Jeremy's background was powerful, but she couldn't just sit there and watch her friend suffer. "Why should I stop? How could he do this to you? If I were him, I would be ashamed to treat a woman like this." Jeremy half-closed his eyes with ruthlessness inside. "Don't ask for trouble. Do you really think I will make it easy for you?" Rosalind sneered. "What a coincidence. I never fear trouble." "Jeremy Daniel, come at me if you have the guts! Leave her out of this!" Sylvia struggled hard to look back. Her eyes were full of tears. Jeremy paused and then spoke with interest, "It looks like you care about her, huh?" Sylvia didn't reply. The man was such a psycho that she had no idea what he would do next. "You just give me a perfect reason not to let her go!" As Jeremy's voice fell, he loosened Sylvia's hand but smashed Rosalind's head against the back of the chair, shouting, "I'll see if you have real guts!" "Let go of my mommy!" Elroy had been protected behind Rosalind, but he rushed over and happened to expose his face to Jeremy. Jeremy stopped when he saw Elroy's face. His expression changed meaningfully. "What's your relationship with Elvis Collins?" Rosalind's forehead was knocked straight on the back of the chair. Her blood flew down the carved flowers on the chair. But even so, she still reached out desperately to hold her son into her arms to protect him. "He's my daddy!" Elroy jumped on the chair and hugged Rosalind's head. "I am Elvis Collins's son! Don't you dare hurt my mom!" Elroy's voice was so clear and loud that the entire lobby of The Palace Cuisine was silenced. Jeremy loosened his hand with a smirk and looked back to the fenced position on the second floor. "Mr. Collins, are they your girl and son?" If there were no blood on Rosalind's face, she would definitely cover her face in embarrassment right now. How the hell did their trick prove to be fake so soon? Could the whole thing become any worse? Even Elroy lost his confidence and panicked. Following Jeremy's gaze, Elroy cast his glance at the man standing in the shadow, asking for help silently. Elvis gazed down at the woman with blood on her head. Somehow, his heart was softened. "Bring them up."
