Rosalind had a great sense of humiliation instantly, lowering her head helplessly. "I want to see your parents."
Ever since her parents passed away, she spent most of her time in the Philip family, taking Hilary's parents as her parents-in-law, and the two treated her nicely as well.
At present, Hilary's parents were her last hope.
Hilary's tone was still sarcastic, but he laughed soon. "Fine, I'll fulfill your wish, lest you might still hold hope."
Hilary started the car, turned around, and drove toward Philip's Mansion. Hilary's mother, Ruby Philip, was home alone, well-dressed. Ruby was astonished when she saw Hilary pulling Rosalind out of the car.
But her face was gloomy when she noticed how negligible Rosalind was.
"What's going on?"
Hilary threw Rosalind to the ground, regardless of how powerless she was right now. He then told the servants to leave and rolled up his sleeves with a darkened face, saying, "Mom, go ahead and lift her clothes to see it yourself."
Ruby was watering the plants in the garden. Hearing this, she hurried to put down the sprinkling pot in her hand and walked toward Rosalind. She saw the wound on Hilary's wrist at this time, asking, "Hilary, what happened to your hand?"
Hilary waved off his hand impatiently. "The b***h bit me."
"..." Ruby's face was inconspicuously gloomy for a moment, then she squatted down and lifted Rosalind's collar. As an experienced woman, she could tell what had happened after a simple glance, so her face darkened immediately.
Rosalind had intended to cover the hickeys on her body. Unfortunately, the robe was too thin and short for her to cover herself. She was ashamed and embarrassed to have an elder here watching her hickeys, so she sobbed with her head lowered.
"Mom, why do you bother to ask?" Hilary rolled his eyes at Rosalind and continued, "Can't you tell she has slept with someone? I just caught her at the hotel."
Ruby crossed her arms, her eyes cold. "Rosalind Simpson, after I raised you for so many years, is this how you repay me? By cuckolding my son?"
"I didn't! It was Susie who set me up!" Rosalind raised her head, her eyes red. "Don't you know what kind of person I am?"
"Rosalind! I didn't do it! Why do you blame me after you did the wrong thing? I take you as my friend! How could you slander me like that?" Susie questioned Rosalind as if she couldn't bear it anymore, her tears pouring. Hilary felt sorry for her and coaxed her for a while.
Ruby glanced at the maids who kept peeking at them, saying, "Stop! Aren't you embarrassed to say this in the doorway? Let's get inside first!"
After saying that, Ruby led the way into the mansion first, followed by Hilary with Susie in his arms.
Rosalind looked at the backs of the three people in front of her, feeling more desperate than before. She did hold hope, wishing that someone would hold justice for her, but now....
It didn't seem likely to happen.
As long as she could get her father's shares back, she would leave the mansion as they wished, considering it her payment for their concern and help for all these years.
"Now that you've betrayed my son, you should know the consequences. The Philip family doesn't accept filthy women, so you should pack up your things and leave." Ruby sat there and talked indifferently as if Rosalind was just a stranger whom she had only met a few times before
Rosalind clenched her fists. "I agree to break the marriage contract, but I want my father's shares back. My father gave it to you as my wedding gift. Now that the wedding is canceled, I have the right to get it back."
"Get your shares back? Rosalind, after you disgraced my son so much, you should consider yourself lucky that I don't blame you for that. How dare you ask me for your shares?" Ruby sneered. "If I had known that you were such a soiled woman, I wouldn't have agreed to your marriage with Hilary no matter how much money your father would offer to our family."
Rosalind's face turned pale when she heard the sarcasm, but she refused to compromise, saying, "I have the right to get my shares back."
"Rosalind Simpson, you're not trying to blackmail me with the shares, are you?" Hilary was stretching his arm for Susie to help him bandage. As soon as he heard Rosalind's words, his face became solemn. "You'd better give up your thoughts. You won't get the shares, let alone use it as your leverage."
Ruby also sighed. "Rosalind, your father volunteered to give the shares to my family. Now that you betrayed Hilary first, how could you ask us for compensation?"
Compensation?
I want my things back. How could you call it compensation?
As things came so far, Rosalind finally realized that the Philip family fooled her around. How blind was she all these years that she didn't see through their dirty minds?
She took a deep breath, wiping the tears on her face little by little. "What's wrong with me taking back what belongs to me?"
"Belong to you?" Ruby violently smashed the teacup in her hand to Rosalind's feet. "From the moment the shares were transferred, they belong to the Philip family! You are such a daredevil!"
The mother and her son just said the same thing to Rosalind. Rosalind was desperate to figure out that the Philip family had long wanted to break off their engagement. She didn't know how many of them were behind the drama last night.
"If you insist on not returning it, I will resort to legal assistance." Rosalind straightened up, turned around, and walked toward the door.
Ruby was anxious.
"Hilary, hurry and stop her. Do you want her to spread the news to the outside world?"
Hilary reluctantly stopped Rosalind, but his handsome face was twisted with anger and impatience. "Rosalind, don't test my patience limit, or I won't make it easy for you! If you insist on doing it this way, I'll let the world see how filthy and cheap your body is!"
Rosalind paused suddenly. It seemed that all her paths were blocked. If she couldn't prove she was framed and couldn't get her shares back, what was left for her?
After living for more than twenty years, Rosalind found herself nothing but a joke for the first time.
She closed her eyes and held back her tears. "I will definitely get the shares back because my father left them to me, I'd rather die than leave them for you shitheads to enjoy it."
"Rosalind, you are such a shameless woman!" Hilary gritted his teeth, beckoning the servant waiting aside. "Get me a blank document."
Rosalind was startled. She was in no mood to think about her manners but asked in a panic, "What do you want to do to me?"
