Hilary smiled. "What do I want? Of course, I want you to sign it."
"Hilary, let me off!"
Rosalind struggled violently, pounding Hilary's body desperately. She couldn't sign it! How could she sign a blank document?
However, Hilary grabbed her wrist, pressed her thumb on the red ink pad, and stamped it on the blank document.
Rosalind looked at the red fingerprint on it, feeling like she was about to be drowned in boundless despair.
"Why... do you do this to me?" What did she do wrong?
Hilary pressed her to the table and forced her to grab a pen, saying, "Because you are in my way. I can't marry my beloved one as long as you are still here. Tell me, why should I keep you here?"
"Your beloved woman? Susie Field?" Rosalind crouched on her knees, but her arms were in great pain because of Hilary. "What am I in your eyes? I have loved you for many years and expected a future with you since childhood..."
"What are you? A stumbling stone, of course." Hilary leaned over and pulled her hand next to the document forcibly. "Sign it, or you will have to suffer more."
Rosalind shook her head feebly. "I won't sign."
"Rosalind, I remember that your dream is to be a jewelry designer, right? And you learned carving from your father since childhood, didn't you?" He sneered as he held Rosalind's index finger into his palm, asking, "How are you going to make your dream come true if your fingers are broken?"
"Don't..." Perceiving Hilary's malice, Rosalind trembled instinctively. Her father was a master carver, so the Simpson family's carving craft was well-known in the country. It was fair to say that her father's skills were essential to the building of the company jointly owned by the Simpson family and the Philip family. Although Rosalind didn't learn much and never expected to make a living with the skills, she wished she could bear everything her father had taught her.
But Hilary was determined to force her to submit, so he tightened his hand and moved downward. A cracking sound followed.
"Ahhhh." A sharp pain occurred to Rosalind when her bone was broken. She was in great sorrow.
Hilary looked at the softly drooping finger with interest and turned his palm over Rosalind's middle finger. "Will you sign it?"
"No, I won't." Rosalind didn't care much about money or the man she had loved for years, but she couldn't give up the only thing her father had left her! She wouldn't give up even if the shared had turned into a pile of scrap paper.
"Tsk." Hilary sneered and clenched his palm again.
One, two, three....
"Hilary, stop." Ruby's voice finally sounded again. Rosalind finally had a chance to breathe, but the sharp pain made her curl up miserably.
Propping herself up on the ground with her elbows, she tried hard to look up at Ruby, begging Rudy with her sorrowful eyes.
Ruby met her gaze and suddenly smiled amiably. When she saw Rosalind's eyes were refilled with hope, Ruby continued, "Aren't you afraid that our floor will be stained if you torture her here? Besides, if you break all her fingers in her right hand, how is she about to sign later?"
That was probably the distance between heaven and hell.
Lying on the ground, Rosalind opened her mouth, gasping for breath. The extreme pain and endless desperation made it hard for her to breathe so that she could get some air this way.
"You are right, Mom. Don't worry. We can get someone to clean up the mess here afterward. The place has been a mess ever since she lived here. Once she leaves, we'll have to renovate it. It's just..." He gently grabbed Rosalind's left hand, saying, "Guess I have to leave her right hand safe for a while."
Ruby smiled with satisfaction and then turned to Susie. "Susie, I hope you are not frightened about this. If you are scared, wait for us in the room. It won't take long."
Ruby was gentle to Susie as if she wasn't the indifferent woman in Rosalind's eyes. After all, Susie was the kind of daughter-in-law Ruby had been looking for. The Field family has been developing well in recent years. As the only daughter of the Field family, wasn't Susie a much better choice than Rosalind to marry Hilary?
Would Susie be frightened, anyway?
It took almost all Susie's strength to keep herself looking innocent and harmless, lest the restrained excitement under her eyes might be exposed.
"Mrs. Philip, can you talk to Rosalind? It's too cruel to treat her like this. I don't have the heart to watch this."
Ruby patted the back of Susie's hand amiably, saying, "That's very nice of you, Susie. You don't even complain after being wronged and even defend her. No wonder the b***h has been bullying you all the time!"
I bully Susie?
That's ridiculous. What makes you think I could bully Susie?
Rosalind moved her fingers so the pain could stimulate her mind to sober up. "I'll sign it."
From today on, she would bear everything that happened here and all these monsters' faces in mind. Rosalind's eyes swept through them one by one. "Call me a doctor to set my bones, and I'll sign the document."
She had to get out of here alive before she had a chance to push them into hell for good.
No matter what the cost, she would let them suffer!
Hilary patted her cheek with satisfaction. "You should have known better earlier."
The Philip family had their private doctor. Although the doctor was not one of the best doctors, it was a piece of cake for him to set the bones.
Rosalind endured the sharp pain and gritted her teeth when the doctor helped her. She didn't even close her eyes but forced herself to remember everything that happened here and all the pain she had borne today.
After a long time, the doctor left with a compassionate expression. Rosalind wiped the cold sweat off her forehead with a stained sleeve.
"Your purpose is to dissolve the marriage contract and shares, then make a complete document. I won't sign a blank contract no matter what."
Who knew what disgusting terms these evil people would fill if she signed it? She couldn't compromise.
Hilary frowned. "Rosalind, are you fooling me?"
"Give me the contract, and I'll sign it. I mean what I say."
Ruby pressed her temples, saying, "Hilary, do as she says. After we raised her for so many years, we should show our manners even if she is such an unfilial girl. Just do it for the last time, for old time's sake."
Rosalind was nothing but a useless woman in her eyes right now. Therefore, it didn't make any difference whether Rosalind signed a complete or blank contract.
"Wait here! You better not play tricks again." Hilary glared at Rosalind and shouted before he entered the study.
Rosalind was disgusted by Ruby's words. She had never known that Ruby was a shameless woman who confused right and wrong.
Even if Hilary did it fast, he couldn't draw up a contract within a few minutes. Susie estimated when Hilary could come and then walked to Rosalind with guilt.
"Rosalind, does your hand hurt? Let me take you to the hospital later, okay?"
Rosalind breathlessly leaned on the table leg. "Susie Field, you've already won. What else do you want?"
"I'm just worried about you..." Susie held Rosalind's hand, tightened her fingers, and said in a low voice. "I'm worried that you won't die even after this. Rosalind, do you know who served you last night?"
The pain in Rosalind's body had numb her, but she couldn't help freezing there when she heard this. "Don't you know it better than me?"
"Well, actually, I have no idea. I did hire someone to find you a male prostitute. You know, the kind with S.T.D. It took me so much trouble to find someone with the disease but is still willing to take the order."
Rosalind gnashed her teeth in hatred. "Susie Field!"
"What a shame." Susie innocently rubbed her chin with her fingers and then approached Rosalind's ear. "You just missed the perfect one I got for you. The guy failed to track you down. So I have no idea who slept with you last night. Who knows? He might be a scruffy old man."
Rosalind's body trembled with anger. "Why did you do this to me?"
If Susie just wanted to be with Hilary, why did she have to do such a horrible thing to Rosalind?
Susie smiled.
"Of course, it's because... I hate you."
As soon as her voice fell, she was yanked away. Hilary, who had printed the document, took Susie into his arms and gently blamed, "Why don't you listen to me? What if she hurts you again? Listen, the b***h doesn't deserve to be your friend. Stay away from her in the future, okay?"
"Hilary, don't say that. Rosalind is my friend no matter what."
Rosalind frowned deeply, suppressing her resentment and hatred to the depths of her heart. "Have you acted enough? Let me sign the contract if you are done!"
She took the contract from Hilary's hand and carefully turned it over and over again with tears in her eyes, dropping the pen in her hand many times.
Rosalind knew that if she signed this document, all her wishes would become bubbles and disappear soon.
She would no longer have anything to do with Hilary but lose what her father valued the most.
But she had to sign it.
She couldn't let them ruin her in this place.
Rosalind trembled as she wrote down her name. The pen rolled down to the floor afterward.
