Chapter 7 Long Time No See

1307 Words
The plane that landed for emergency finally returned to its correct course after Elvis caught Glenn home. Rosalind had not been in a good mood since Elvis left. Although she didn't know what Elvis's status was, she felt bad thinking of the fact that Elroy had Elvis's face. She could fool her son, saying there were chances that unrelated people might look alike, but she couldn't convince herself with the same theory. People might have similarities, but it wasn't normal if they looked almost the same. She looked at her son in distress, wondering why her boy didn't inherit her appearance. Elroy sensed Rosalind's emotions, so he timidly reached out to hold Rosalind's face, saying, "Are you mad at me, Mommy?" "Baby, do you want Daddy badly?" "I want someone to join me to take good care of you." Elroy lowered his head in depression. After a while, he continued as if he had made up his mind, saying, "But if Mommy doesn't like that, I don't want a Daddy!" Rosalind rubbed her face sideways against her son's hand for a moment. "I'm not mad at you." It was her fault that she couldn't offer Elroy an intact family. Since Rosalind was the chief designer who was transferred to work in a domestic branch, the company had rented a two-bedroom house for her in advance. The place wasn't large enough, but it was very close to her workplace. Rosalind pushed open the door of the second bedroom. Seeing the brand-new toys piled up in the room, she was stunned, knowing that the head of the branch wouldn't be so considerate. "Mommy, these are all from Uncle Dylan." Elroy stepped on his slippers and ran over to rummage through the pile of toys to find a card. Rosalind felt warm when she saw the words on the card: Happy Housewarming! Elroy had taken Rosalind's phone out of her bag and dialed a familiar number. The person answered soon. His mild voice was with joy as he answered, "Rosalind, have you arrived already?" Elroy put the man on the speaker, saying, "Uncle Dylan, we've arrived, and I just saw the gifts you sent me." "You do know how to get straight to the point, huh?" Rosalind poked Elroy's forehead gently and then took the phone and replied, "We just got here." "Just got there?" Dylan Barney, who was in a meeting, gestured toward his assistant and left a group of executives in the conference room before he walked out, saying, "According to your flight schedule, you should have arrived two hours ago." Rosalind lost her voice for a few seconds. She had Elvis's cold face in her mind out of the blue. "Well, there was an accident." The flight accident was never a trivial thing. Dylan sounded nervous immediately, "Are you alright?" "I'm fine." Dylan breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good to hear. I've had a meeting with our employees in the branch. If you need anything, just tell them. But if anyone dares offend you, call me." Dylan had no intention of sending Rosalind back here. It was already hard for him to get Rosalind's heart when she worked with him. Now that they were far away from each other with a jet lag of more than ten hours, Dylan didn't think he had a better chance to win. But he knew a little about Rosalind's history. Now that she intended to go back, Dylan could do nothing but give her full support. Rosalind smiled helplessly. "Aren't you giving me backdoor convenience in this way?" "With your seniority, it's always the right thing to do no matter how convenient I make it for you." Rosalind was an amazing designer with great talent. She seemed to have a natural intuition for beautiful things, and all her designers were eye-catching enough to amaze people. The jewelry industry was never the essential field for the Barney Group. However, ever since Rosalind joined the company three years ago, she had helped raise the income of Barney Jewelry by nearly 40% thanks to her excellent personal design style and precise business judgment. What a formidable resume and achievement. Not to mention she had three international design awards as her leverage. Dylan sighed regretfully, "Rosalind, it's really condescending to leave you there as a powerless designer." "J&Q's designers are independent enough to deal with things by themselves, and their styles are settled. I'm no better than a supervisor there if I stay. Compared to that, I'd rather come back here to expand our territory." Rosalind was never satisfied with her achievements, All the efforts she had made were for one purpose, i.e., making those who bullied and humiliated her before pay for what they had done! When Rosalind hung up the phone, Elroy had already warmed up the milk by himself and carefully brought one of the cups to Rosalind, saying, "Mommy, drink it." Rosalind looked at her son's burnt red fingertips, feeling sorry for him. She grabbed Elroy's little hands and blew hurriedly. "Baby, just let me do that, okay?" "I want to take care of you, Mommy." Rosalind couldn't help but press Elroy into her arms hard, kissing his cheeks several times lovingly. The next day, Rosalind got up early and made breakfast for her son carefully before she took out the clothes she had matched in advance from her closet. The skirt was well cut at the side on the middle of her thigh, exposing her perfect legs. Her eyebrows were not curved but were smoother, adding some dominating aura to her. Her fair skin, red lips, thin waist, and full-sized breasts were so perfect. Looking at the gorgeous and dignified woman in the mirror, Rosalind was in a trance. She couldn't even remember what she looked like five years ago. All she could think of at that time was how to become Hillary's wife. She was restrained like a soulless paper woman, but now she was like the most gorgeous fireworks in bloom. ... After entrusting Elroy to her best friend as scheduled, Rosalind drove to the company alone. Since the business center of Barney Group was not in Zemdim, Barney Jewelry wasn't one of the most famous jewelry brands in Zemdim. However, since the executives had invested a lot in Barney Jewelry, the company was located in the most prosperous business district in the capital and had a whole building as its office area even if the rent was too much to imagine. The moment Rosalind stepped into the lobby, she grabbed everyone's attention. The two young girls standing at the reception desk looked at Rosalind without blinking their eyes. Given their work, they had to meet numerous pretty women every day, yet they had never seen anyone who was as beautiful and unique as Rosalind was. One of the girls couldn't help swallowing, asking, "He, hello, do you have an appointment?" Rosalind smiled warmly and took out her work card from her bag. "I'm the designer here, and it's my first day coming to this place." The receptionist was dumbfounded when she took a look at the work permit. "Oh, my God! It's Designer Rosalind!" The little girl's face was red with excitement. She even lost control of herself and jumped twice. "I've fanned you ever since you designed the first set of jewelry for J&Q. Can I take a picture with you? My God, you are even more beautiful than how you look in the magazine!" "Sure..." Rosalind was about to agree when she heard a female voice coming. "Your employees are so energetic." The words were fine, but the woman's tone made the sentence sound more like sarcasm. Rosalind turned around and looked at the woman who was walking through the door with people's protection. "It's been a long time." Susie, finally, we met again.
