We fell asleep in each other’s arms last night, the sadness Scarlet was feeling weighed the room down, the atmosphere was depressed and so was my beautiful mate. I was more than a little angry at her mother’s pronouncement from the night before. The birth of a pup shortly after a couple finds one another is more than common in our society. In fact, it’s almost expected.

To be told that we should avoid pregnancy at all costs due to this mystical threat that hangs over us due to the family’s secrecy and hiding, well, it makes my inner wolf growl in frustration. If there’s a pup already, well tough they’ll just have to deal with it, won’t they!

I took some deep healing breaths, taking in Scarlet’s scent as I held her to my chest before closing my eyes and joining her in sleep.
