Unsound Mind
“I also thought that there’s something weird about her,” Joe told Sirius.
They were asked to stay for a few hours at the police station for questioning.
“You should sharpen your sense even more,” Sirius told him, eyes closed while crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.
“I think those bagels caused my senses to get dull. Can’t we eat anything aside from bread?” Joe asked him, but Sirius won’t budge.
“Those bread made you think there’s something weird on that lady, so thank Mr. Lauve.”
“You’re going on the wrong path,” Joe told him.
“I’m not.”
“Wait. If she really killed that family, why she didn’t kill us when she knew we’re heading here?” Joe asked him again.
“That lady named Penelope, real name was Theriza Flaun. She was a girl born in an ordinary family. She has an older sister, which her parents really paid attention to because she was…”
“What?”
Sirius opened his eyes and felt like something had happened before. An event that looks like this, but he can’t remember it.
“Her sister was intellectually gifted.”
“While her family thought that they were living normally, that girl suffered alone,” Sirius continued.
“On her sister’s 20th birthday, they went camping on a cave she found on google map. She loves challenges as well as adventures, just like their father in which Theriza really hates. Theriza likes to be in her room alone reading books so she could at least stand beside her sister when it comes to knowledge.”
“So she’s not really lying about her sister’s birthday,” Joe put his hand under his chin.
“Middletown really has a cave, but it became hot news for not appearing on google map two years ago. So that family she killed before was her own family,” Joe said.
“After murdering her own family, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and stayed on a mental facility for a month before she escaped.”
“Wow.”
“She went into hiding but might have been visiting that cave. Unluckily, this family planned to go camping on that same site, so she killed them with a thought that that might be her family,” Sirius told him.
“Delusion, poor judgment and impulsiveness, she’s definitely not on her sound mind,” he added.
“You find out all that?” Joe asked him.
“No, I only knew about her being ill. I just saw some of the police’s reports and read a little bit of her background,” he answered.
“Are you allowed to do that?”
“You should jump with joy since your request has been granted. This smell, the sound of pair of two footsteps approaching carrying a box with I think the size of 15x20x5 centimeter, I think they’re going to treat us some food.” Sirius faced Joe.
Two policemen walked towards them, carrying two boxes of take-outs and two bottled water.
“Thank you, sir, for cooperating with us. Chief said to give you this, you might want some snacks,” one of them told Sirius and Joe.
“Thank you. Yes, we didn’t have lunch yet,” Joe immediately took his share.
“It’s not 15x20x5 centimeter,” Joe told Sirius.
“It’s 15x20x6 centimeter,” he corrected Sirius’s measurement.
The two policemen looked at each other, confused.
“Oh, we just measure the box,” Sirius told them.

“Woah, I never imagine we let a murderer ride with us. We should disinfect it immediately,” Joe told him while driving. He voluntarily switched out with Sirius. They’re heading to where Joe’s friend is the one who’s into photography.
“I never imagine you would ask them another box of that take-out,” Sirius told him while his eyes are closed.
“Well, I guess my stomach needs some more.”
“You should have paid for that extra box you ate.”
“We helped them catch a wanted criminal. We did them some favor,” Joe told him.
“I was thinking of eating some nice dinner, but I guess we’ll have to stick with bagel again until we finish all of it,” Sirius said.
Joe looked at the bag of bagel and looked like they’re laughing at him. It’s like he has nowhere and trapped on an island full of bagels.
“I’m so happy I get to eat this precious bread Mr. Lauve baked. It’s a once in a lifetime limited offer goods,” Joe faked a laugh as he drove off to their destination.
