Chapter 19

932 Words
Life is Fair Every time Therese had her day off, she would go out to see her long time lover, Drew. Drew works under a man named Taurus. He's a leader of an underground group manufacturing illegal weapons, including those specialized in assassination and secret missions. "Therese, are you done?" He asked her while knocking on the door of the bathroom. Her heart almost stopped from beating when she saw the two little red lines on a small device she was holding. She was going through hell, thinking about what she could do knowing her current situation. She can't let her sister be taken away by Arzon, yet she knew Arzon could kill her and that thing growing in her belly. But still, she can't let Drew know about this, not until everything was settled. The only thing she was certain about is that it was Drew's. She's been more than careful. She thought she could hide it for the time being, but Drew knew her more than herself. "What's going on, Therese?" He asked. "Nothing." She answered. He knew something was going on, but he trusts her more than anyone in this world. And just as what they said, the more you conceal things, the more it becomes visible. The man she's been worrying about knew what was going on all along, Arzon. -0-0-0- "I'm sorry for what I've done." A man was on his knees, crying his heart out. "How could you do this to me?" She said in a blank face with tears falling from her eyes. "But I don't know that... I don't know... Therese, I'm sorry... I'm sorry, Therese." He wept and repeatedly asking for her forgiveness, knowing her heart was already made out of stone. "It happened, Drew." She said, staring through nothing. "It's all my fault." He said. Someone told Drew Therese was carrying Arzon's child, and out of anger, he let Therese smell a chemical that leads to miscarriage. Later he found out the truth coming from Therese. "That child was yours." She stated, made him fall to the ground grieving for his loss. She can't let that man ruin her world. She's been threatened to let her sister replace her, paying 3 folds than what she received. He already took one's life. How could he ask for more? She's been sending out letters full of hatred and resentment for Arzon, but he was heartless from the start. Her life keeps crashing every day. He looked at that man's face, but she has to be strong or else she would lose another battle. -0-0-0- "It was my idea to send him a special one. A letter made out of special material. It contains ricin that could poison anyone who could smell it. Knowing Arzon's favorite scent was jasmine, I know he can't resist smelling that scented paper." She confessed. "Where did you take it from?" George asked her. "Someone who was associated with him before, a guy who works for a large group manufacturing illegal weapons." She tried to cover up for Drew. For the very last time, she sacrificed herself again just to save her treasures. "Could you let me see my family? Before you take me to prison?" She asked. They looked at each other, not knowing what to say with a woman who became a suspect by being a victim of a tragic fate. -0-0-0- She had given a chance to see her family. It was quick, yet it was worth a lifetime. She deserved the world. She was worthy, for a girl who used to dream for a good life, yet the world is cruel that she was being toyed. "I can ask Drew to help you go out, Therese." Her sister whispered behind her tears. "No, Alice, I have to pay for what I did. I don't want to add another trouble to my back. Promise me you won't waste my dreams for our family. You're in charge now." She said, trying her best to pull back her tears. "How could I when I know you're here?" She asked. "You have Adam, the twins, and mom. I know you can do it. Don't try to take the path I chose." She stated. George was about to cry seeing this kind of situation. Never in his life had he witnessed something like this. Joe patted his back, and he was taken aback, immediately crossing his arms and moved a step away from him. "What? It's not like I took something from you." Joe said, and then realizing he did before. "Oh! Sorry about your wallet, though." He said while faking a laugh. They went to see Therese's family settled on a bus. Sirius saw Alice fixing her small sling bag. "Have you notice her bag?" Sirius asked. "Well, it contains a small purse, a face powder, a handkerchief, and cologne. The first time I saw it, it looks like an empty bag. That's why it was never my intention to look at it, but I was curious about what was inside, so I took a peek before they entered the office." Joe told them. Sirius dashed off to where Alice was, trying to stop her. He observed Alice's bag, and it contains a white paper that looks like a letter. "Wait!" He shouted. Alice looked at him, preventing her from getting on the bus. "Can I look at the paper she gave you?" Sirius asked, offering her to handed it out for him. "It's mine." She was confused. Why would he want to read someone's letter? "Please."- He pleaded.
