Chapter 5: A new friend

As the days pass Mitsuki continues to get stronger. At this point he was able to use mana reinforcement, though he wasn't good at it. He had to concentrate hard to use it and only for a short period of time. His magic and his mana pool however has grown substantially. Mitsuki collapses to the floor.

“About one minute huh.”

Mitsuki can only use mana reinforcement for roughly one minute at most. It drains his energy fast. Mitsuki rested on the ground and gathered his stamina. While he was laying down he thought for a minute. He decided that he would explore the town for a bit. He put on clothes and began to head outside.

“Goodmorning Mitsuki where are you goin’’”

“Morning dad, I was thinking about going outside and looking around..”

“Hmmm, alright don't go to far”

Makato was worried due to how young Mitsuki is, but he knows he can handle himself. Hes strong already, and for his age his ability to talk is astounding, even when he was younger. He really is a genius

Mitsuki walks through the town and looks around, seeing everything around him. He's never seen any other house besides his own. The houses he saw looked different than his previous life. He saw people outside. Humans weren't the only race that lived here. From what it looked like, Elves and beastmen lived here too. He looked in amazement at the sights he saw. He's only heard of the other races from Makato’s stories but this was his first time seeing them. All of a sudden he was stopped by a boy a few years older than him who had a big grin on his face.

“Hey I've never seen you before. You seem pretty young too, what's your name kid.”

He had a lot of questions about Mitsuki, but more than anything he wanted to test his strength.

“I’m Mitsuki. What's your name?”

Mitsuki was happy to see that he could potentially make his first friend.

“Rinnosuke’s my name.. You look pretty young to be out all on your own.”

“Yeah, but I can handle myself. Anyways, nice to meet you, wanna come play with me.”

Mitsuki reached out his hand

“Sure, I have the perfect thing we can do.”

They shook hands and both went off together.

Then they ran until they reached a field where they stopped. Rinnosuke turned towards Mitsuki.

“So, Mitsuki, you know how to do magic, don't you? I sense your mana and it seemed pretty strong. Come on and spar with me.”

Rinnosuke cracked a smile

“I’ll warn you I'm pretty strong you know.”

“Dont think I'm weak just because I'm young. Fine, I'll fight you, I'm gonna win.”

Seeing the fire in Rinnosuke’s eyes excited him. Mitsuki began smiling as well.

Mitsuki waits for him to make his move first.

( I've never fought anyone besides dad, but dad is stronger than anyone. Rinnosuke isn't stronger than him.)

Rinnosuke runs towards Mitsuki and throws a fast right

CRACK

He manages to block, though his arm throbs in pain.

He counters with a kick to the gut, before retreating.

(That was heavy, I won't be able to take a lot of his hits).

They both run towards each other and throw a flurry of punches.

Mitsuki dodges most of Rinnosuke's attacks. He then threw a heavy punch to Rinnosuke's face.

SMASH

“Your gonna need to try, HARDER THAN THAT!”

A sharp pain went through Mitsukis side. Before he realized it he was hit.

Mitsuki flew in the direction of his punch.

He rolled on the ground before managing to stop himself. While on his knees he looked up to see Rinnouskes leg moments away from hitting him.

He swiftly put his hand in front of him

BOOM

They both fly back.

Mitsuki conjured an explosion strong enough to blow them both back.

(That was close)

“Hehe you really are strong. Maybe its time I start getting more serious.”

On impulse Mitsuki activated his mana reinforcement.

Rinnosuke lunged at Mitsuki with enough force that it left a hole in the ground.

He threw a punch at Mitsuki, within the blink of an eye he dodged and layed a heavy punch to his face.

They entered a flurry of punches.

Mitsuki wasn't able to dodge everything, he could feel himself being worn out.

BASH

Mitsuki landed a strong kick

BOOM

In his leg he created an explosion which blew Rinnosuke back.

He charged at Rinnosuke.

Right as he got up Mitsuki was already there, In the process of throwing another punch.

SMASH

He took a heavy hit to his face but he recovered quickly. Blood poured down his face

Lightning went through Rinnosukes body, he almost moved too fast to see.

SWISH

Mitsuki dodged Rinnosukes kick on instinct and jumped back before he knew what happened

-Huff- -Huff-

Within the blink of an eye Rinnosuke appeared in front of Mitsuki.

He threw multiple punches which Rinnosuke all dodged.

“You really are strong.”

SMASH

Rinnosuke hit Mitsuki in his chin.

He falls to his knees and is left unconscious.

He wakes up to see Rinnosuke sitting next to him.

“Oh, you're finally awake.”

His body throbs in pain as he moves to sit upright.

“Yeah, thanks for staying with me.”

He remembers what happened and realizes. He lost. He was disappointed, but it inspired him to get stronger.

“You’re really strong for being so young. You can already use mana reinforcement and your good with magic too.”

Rinnosuke looked towards him with a smile.

“Before long you're gonna be stronger than me. Make sure to keep up your training, and come train with me from time to time, alright. Hehe I'm gonna win, but fighting you is fun, and it can help you get stronger. I can teach you some tricks too.”

“Sure, don't be surprised if I get stronger than you.”

Mitsuki noticed Rinnosuke seemed confident in his strength. Though it seemed like he could justify it.

“Hehe, we'll see about that. You seem pretty cool. I knew my senses were right about you, as always.”

All of a sudden, Rinnosuke stopped laughing and smiling and had a more serious look on his face. He looked off into the distance.

“Mitsuki, do you have a dream? Well, you're only a kid, you probably don't even know what I'm talking about.”

“I just wanna protect the people close to me.”

That was the only thing he wanted as of that point.

“I'm pretty sure almost everyone wants that.”

He looked at Mitsuki with a smile.

“I dont have anyone that i'm close to.”

Mitsukis stomach sank.

The look in his eyes made Mitsukis heart hurt.

(Don't look at me like that, don't give me that smile.)

Mitsuki noticed that the look in his eyes seemed familiar, but he couldn't recall where.

He couldn't think of anything to say

Rinnosuke averted his gaze and looked back into the distance

“I'm going to become the strongest, I don’t have anyone close to me now but, when I do I'll be able to protect them. I'll become stronger than anyone! Watch me. Mitsuki, you gotta become strong too, if you ever need help, I'll- I’ll save you!”

Seeing Rinnosuke like this gave Mitsuki a new level of admiration towards him.

“Then let's get stronger together.”

Rinnosuke got up and held his hand out towards Mitsuki.

“ Hehe you bet. I wanna see how strong you can get, so you better not die. If you die Ill kill you!”

Mitsuki smiles and grabs his hand thinking of journeys they could have and the future that awaits them.
