Chapter 6

606 Words
Riley's POV Zzz! Zzz! Throwing the sheets off me, I got of of bed and turn off my alarm. I'm so going to get rid of the little bugger one of these days. Looking at the time, I realized it was almost noon. Last night at the crime scene was quite grim. Hours were spent bagging and tagging evidence. The worst of it though was hearing the cries of Dr. Ben's wife over the phone when we called her. It was heartbreaking.  The FBI agents also came in as well. They helped out at the scene and the work went faster. Secretly, I think we were all grateful for the help but we would never say it out loud seeing that they are poaching our case. Yes we are that proud. One particular agent had me almost making a complete fool of myself. He was extraordinarily well built. He must have work out a lot. He had a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes which I found myself drowning in at times. He made me feel things I haven't felt in a long time, to be more specific in six months time. Things I haven't felt since the tragic night I lost my heart. Flashback                 Six months ago! "Riley! Riley!" shouted Brian Jumping slightly from fright, I looked up to see my partner looking at me a bit amused but annoyed as well, "Have you heard anything I have been saying to you?" "Sorry no," I replied smiling sheepishly. "Ah busy texting your boo I see," he replied looking over my shoulder at my phone while wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. Blushing profusely, I quickly lock my phone to prevent him from reading anymore. This only caused him to burst into laughter.  "Ugh, I hate you, " I retorted while scowling.  "No you don't," he remarked with  smile on his face, "Anyways as I was saying earlier, we currently have two victims on our hand killed with the same exact MO. Is it safe to say we have a serial killer on our hands?" "Yeah it's safe to say so. This is bad, really bad," I replied feeling dread at the thought of a serial killer in my city, " Have we found any linkage between the two victims?" "Nothing as yet, we are still looking though." This is so f***ing frustrating. Getting up from my desk, I went towards the coffee pot to get a refill after which I went back to work.  At around six in the evening I decided to head over to my handsome fiance's house, Josh King. He is a software developer and he mostly works from home. He is so innocent. He isn't tainted by the horrors of my work and I try my very best to ensure it stays that way. Arriving at his house, I realized that something was off. His front door was left open; something which he never does. Pulling my gun from it's holster, I quietly made my way inside. Looking around downstairs, I saw nothing amiss so I quietly made my way upstairs. I kept on praying that it was a false alarm on my part but nothing never really goes the way you wish does it.  Reaching the bedroom door, I pushed it open and the sight nearly killed me. My entire world came tumbling down. There on the bed laid Josh with his throat slashed open. There was blood everywhere. The sight made tears flowed from my eyes and my knees wobbly. The gun fell from my hands. "Noooooo!!!" the soul shattering scream left my mouth before I completely passed out.  End of Flashback.
