As Arvandor's cloaked figure disappeared into the shadows, the trio turned to one another, their expressions a mix of concern and intrigue. "He could be a valuable asset to our team," Alistair said, breaking the silence. "His healing abilities alone could make all the difference to the dangers we'll face." Seraphina frowned, still skeptical. "But can we really trust him? He did put our lives at risk with that 'test' of his." Malakar, who had been quietly contemplating, spoke up. "He's certainly not forthcoming with information, but his powers could be crucial to our success. Perhaps we should give him a chance, but keep a close eye on him." Alistair nodded. "I agree. If we're going to face the challenges ahead, we need all the help we can get. And as you said, we can always part ways if he proves untrustworthy." Seraphina sighed, her reluctance evident. "Fine, but if anything goes wrong, I'm holding you two responsible." "Duly noted," Alistair said with a small smile. "Now, let's see if we can catch up to Arvandor before he vanishes entirely." "With renewed determination, the trio navigated the twisting paths of the forest, the rustle of leaves and branches echoing through the air. The moon, peeking through the canopy, provided a faint source of light, casting eerie shadows across the path. After a few moments of walking, they spotted Arvandor's cloaked figure in the distance, and hurried to catch up." As the trio approached Arvandor, they noticed he had stopped in a small clearing, his eyes fixed on a map in his hands. He turned at the sound of their footsteps, a hint of surprise in his expression. "Ah, you've caught up with me," he said with a small smile. "I didn't expect to see you again so soon." Alistair stepped forward, his gaze unwavering. "We have a proposition for you, Arvandor. We could use someone with your abilities on our quest, but we need to know if we can trust you." Arvandor raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You're a shrewd one, Alistair. And you're right to question my trustworthiness. But I can assure you, our goals are aligned. I may be enigmatic, but I'm not your enemy." Arvandor gave a slight nod, understanding their skepticism. "I understand your hesitation. After all, we've only just met. But consider this, even if our motives were not aligned, I'm not the type to resort to underhanded tactics or deception. I value a fair challenge and a worthy opponent. You have nothing to fear from me." Seraphina stepped forward, meeting Arvandor's gaze. "While I appreciate your assurances, we must still be cautious. Our quest is dangerous and critical, and we can't afford to let our guard down. While we're willing to trust you, we ask that you do the same and be open and transparent with us. If we're to work together, it's vital that we build a foundation of mutual respect and understanding." Arvandor nodded, appreciating her candor. "You speak wisely, Seraphina. Trust must be earned, not freely given. I promise to be as open and transparent as the nature of our journey allows. Your concerns are valid, and I will do my best to address them as we move forward." Arvandor's expression became more guarded as he heard Malakar's question. "I appreciate your offer of assistance, but I must keep my destination confidential for now. It's not that I don't trust you, but there are certain factors I need to consider before I can share more information. However, I'm grateful for your willingness to help navigate this treacherous forest, and I'm hopeful that as we continue on our journey together, we can come to a deeper understanding of each other's goals and find ways to collaborate." With that, Arvandor carefully folded the map and returned it to his pocket, a hint of intrigue in his eyes. Alistair, sensing the tension in the air, interjected with a practical suggestion. "It's getting late, and we've all had a long day. Why don't we find a suitable spot to set up camp for the night? We'll be more effective if we're well-rested, and it would give us a chance to get to know each other better." Arvandor and Seraphina both nodded in agreement. The prospect of a restful night's sleep after a day filled with intrigue and uncertainty was a welcome one. The trio began to scout the surrounding area for a secure and comfortable place to camp, eager to find some rest and perhaps gain a better understanding of their mysterious companion. Suddenly, Arvandor raised his hands and a chilling energy filled the air. From the shadows, a group of skeletal figures emerged, their bony frames clattering as they rose to their feet. Arvandor turned to the group and issued a command in a language none of them had heard before. Instantly, the skeletons dispersed, some scouring the forest for supplies, while others took up defensive positions around the perimeter, their empty eye sockets scanning the darkness for any potential threats. Serafina crossed her arms and eyed Arvandor with suspicion. "Is this some sort of show of power, Arvandor? A display to intimidate us?" she questioned, her voice laced with mistrust. Malakar, meanwhile, kept a watchful eye on the skeletal figures, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, ready to spring into action at the first sign of danger. He knew better than to let his guard down around someone as enigmatic and unpredictable as Arvandor. Alistair, sensing the growing tension among his companions, stepped forward and held up his hands in a calming gesture. "Hold on, everyone," he said in a soothing voice. "I understand your concerns, Seraphina, and I appreciate your vigilance, Malakar. But let's not forget that we've agreed to work together for now. Arvandor has his reasons for keeping some information to himself, just as we have our own secrets. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, and show him that we can be just as dependable as we expect him to be." Arvandor raised an eyebrow at Alistair's words, a hint of respect in his gaze. Seraphina scowled, but reluctantly nodded, while Malakar slowly released his grip on his sword, his eyes still wary. As the group finally settled down and the fire crackled warmly in the night, Alistair couldn't help but feel a lingering curiosity about their newest companion. He leaned forward, the flickering flames casting shadows across his face as he looked at Arvandor. "So, tell me, Arvandor, what's your story? How did you come to possess such unusual abilities?" Arvandor's gaze met Alistair's, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
