She hugged me tightly while I recounted everything that happened to me last night. "Damn it! I told you not to trust that Stella. She's a snake," she said angrily. "Girl, you know I just want to make peace with my sister, right? When she invited me to the bar to celebrate my birthday, of course, I immediately agreed. It was the first time she ever did something like that for me," I explained at length. "Girl, you should’ve thought about it! Of course, she had a plan against you, that witch," she replied furiously. "Girl, Justine broke up with me because of what happened... Boohoo," I cried, pouring out my heartbreak. "Don't cry over that man! Didn't you notice something between him and Stella? I've seen it for a while now—the way they look at each other. It's like they're ready to tear their clothes off," she said, her anger evident. "Girl, don’t say that about Justine. That’s just how he looks at Stella because they grew up together. We all grew up together, so they’re close," I replied defensively. "Are you blind, girl? I'm sure what happened to you last night was all part of your sister's plan to stop your wedding with Justine." Her words suddenly made me realize the truth, and I clenched my fists as anger surged through me. --- Days had passed since that fateful night, and I was still staying at my friend's condo, trying to collect my thoughts. I needed to figure out how to explain everything to Justine. I couldn’t lose him—the person I loved the most. I decided I’d go home today to prepare myself. --- "What are you doing here? After the shame you’ve brought to this family?" my stepmom Sofia spat angrily when I arrived. I ignored her and walked past her, heading toward my room. But before I could even reach the stairs, she yelled at me again. "How dare you! Faye, if you think you’ll ever become Mrs. Sandoval, then you're dreaming. Justine ended your engagement yesterday," she said with a sneer. Her words hit me like a thunderclap. The pain was unbearable—I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I pushed forward, heading to my room to quickly pack my things and leave. I had to see Justine. I needed to tell him the truth. I couldn’t let things end this way. --- I rushed to Justine's condo, knowing exactly where it was since I had been there several times before. When I arrived at the lobby, I immediately went to the elevator. Ding! The elevator door opened, and I entered, pressing the button for the 15th floor. When the door opened again, I rushed to his unit. I didn’t bother knocking—I had a spare key. I opened the door and entered. Scattered clothes and a woman’s sandals littered the floor. My heart dropped when I saw the familiar clothes. I recognized whose they were. My hands trembled as I tried to hold back my tears. Then I heard noises—moans—coming from the bedroom. I walked closer, and everything became clear. Their voices confirmed my worst fears. The woman in the room with him was none other than Stella. I opened the door, and there they were—naked and shameless. "Stella, this was all your plan, wasn’t it? To stop my wedding with Justine," I said, tears streaming down my face. She smirked. "Do you really think someone like you deserves to marry Justine?" Stella mocked. I looked at Justine, hoping for some denial, but he only glared at me. "Well," Stella continued, "didn’t Dad tell you? Justine and I are getting married instead. After what you did, there’s no way you’d still think you could marry him." I froze. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. "You’re shameless, both of you," I said, holding back sobs. "Ms. Faye Gray," Justine said coldly. "Do you really think I’d marry someone like you? Get out!" His words felt like a dagger in my chest. I had no choice but to turn around and leave. As I walked out of his unit, tears poured uncontrollably down my face. People stared, but I didn’t care. I wanted to scream. My sister—my own flesh and blood—betrayed me. She took everything from me. --- For days, I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened. My mind replayed their betrayal over and over again. I decided to go back home to pick up some of my belongings. I didn’t plan to stay there long. I couldn’t bear to see Stella and Justine in the same house every day. When I arrived, the house was eerily quiet. No one seemed to be home. I headed to the kitchen to get a drink of water, but then I overheard voices. "Good job, my daughter. You executed our plan perfectly," Sofia said. "Of course, Mom," Stella replied confidently. "I wasn’t going to let Faye take Justine away from me. Everything we’ve done was part of our plan from the beginning. Luckily, Justine finally agreed to go along with it." My fists clenched as I listened, hidden from their view. "That fool Faye," Sofia sneered. "She really thought Justine loved her. But in truth, he only stayed with her because of his grandparents. When we told him she needed to be removed from the picture, he finally agreed to our plan, even if it meant seducing her." I couldn’t bear to hear anymore. I left the house, tears streaming down my face again. How could Justine and Stella betray me like this? The people I trusted most had conspired against me from the very start. --- I headed back to my friend's condo, still reeling from everything I had learned. My phone rang—it was Andrea. "Hello?" I answered. "Girl, where are you? I got back to the condo and you weren’t there," Andrea said worriedly. "I'm on my way back. I went home, but I couldn't stay there. Andrea, it hurts so much. You were right about everything. I should have listened to you from the start," I sobbed. "I told you before, but you didn’t believe me. It’s okay. Just come back, and we’ll talk," Andrea said. I hung up and hailed a cab back to the condo. When I arrived, the elevator doors opened with a ding. I headed straight to Andrea’s unit, where she was waiting by the door. "Girl, you're back. Come in. You look awful," Andrea said, leading me inside. I stayed silent, my eyes puffy and red from crying. "Girl, how many times did I warn you? But you kept defending them," Andrea said, frustrated. I felt the room spin, and everything went black. --- Andrea’s POV: Faye collapsed on the floor, unconscious. I panicked and immediately called for help. She had barely been eating these past few days, and I was genuinely worried about her. She needed care now more than ever. We rushed her to the hospital. Thankfully, the doctor told me there was nothing seriously wrong with her. I sighed in relief. But then, the doctor said he needed to speak to us about something in person. When Faye finally woke up, the doctor entered the room. "Oh, you're awake," he said to her. Faye nodded weakly. "Well, congratulations, Ms. Gray," the doctor said with a smile. Faye and I both froze in confusion. "What do you mean, doctor?" I asked. He turned to me, still smiling. "Your friend is two weeks pregnant." I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Was this some kind of joke? "T-That can’t be," I stammered. "I understand this may come as a shock. But yes, she's pregnant," the doctor confirmed. "Ms. Gray, I know this might not be what you expected, but I hope you find happiness in this news. Make sure to take your prenatal vitamins daily for a healthy pregnancy." He turned back to me. "Ms. Smith, please watch over her. In the early stages, the fetus is very sensitive and fragile. She’ll need care and support." I nodded, still in disbelief. After the doctor left, I looked at Faye. She was silent, staring blankly at the ceiling. I didn’t ask her any questions. I knew she was overwhelmed, and I didn’t want to pressure her. All I could do now was stay by her side and support her in any way I could.
