Selena's Brother

Selena's Family's POV

I sat at my desk in my study in conversation with Leon and Lucas. The pack festival was soon upon us and it was my job to make sure things were up to date. Our pack and others like us have been living like humans as it seemed to be safer to blend in with everyone else . This year, the festival would be here. It was my job to make sure it kicked off without a hitch.

I glanced up as a knock sounded on the door and my stepmother walked in. I hated that she took the place of my mother in my father's heart. She wasn't evil and was great to all of us but sometimes I thought she spoiled Selena a little to much. She was the reason Selena was far away from us and unprotected in the world.

Selena had begged to go and Maria had talked to father for her. "What is it? Is everything alright?" I asked her.

"Leif, I just got off the phone with Selena," she blurted out with concern in her voice. She would like to stay in California this summer."

I became annoyed and could feel a headache coming on. "No! The festival will be here this year, I need her help to prepare for it! "

"She thought you might say no, so she had another suggestion that she wanted me to ask you"

"Which is? " I asked coldly.

"She wants to know if she can bring her friend here, she does not wish to leave her alone"

"If her friend is not a wolf, then No, she knows the rules, we can't risk it, Tell her she is to come home, and I want no excuses! I noticed my stepmother fidgeting where she stood. I knew something was wrong that she didn't want to tell me. "What is it that you're not telling me? "

"I..I asked you for her but that wasn't exactly her words."

"Spit it out Maria!"

"She didn't really ask for permission Leif , she told me to tell you that she wouldn't be coming home this summer and was staying with her friend." Maria blurted out with a shaky voice.

This woman was making my head hurt and Selena was causing me problems that I didn't care about right now. "Did she forget that she had a mate here? Get her on the phone!" I roared. I noticed Lucas glancing at me. "What is it you want to say? "

"Let the girl come, what harm could it do?" Lucas asked.

"Are you forgetting we have the festival coming up Lucas and that our wolves will all be out ?" Leon questioned.

"No Leon, I didn't forget, I'm just saying, if she's human then wouldn't it be nice to have her around for the summer for the she wolfs to watch and learn from?" Lucas asked causing me to raise my brows.

"I can see where you're going with this now Lucas." The pack had been learning the ways of humans so we could stay under the radar. Some knew of us, Some hated us, and some hunted us. This was a good idea because the women were the ones struggling with the change so if we could watch this girl in action and learn from it, then it could possibly help the women in our pack. "Get Selena on the phone!" I ordered.

Selena's POV

I didn't know how to convince Kit to come with me but I also didn't want to leave her here. I knew Scott had plans for her. It was a gut feeling and It was always right. He had planned a weekend vacation and wanted Kit to go with him.

I knew the sneaky bastard would have something up his sleeve but as far as I was concerned, he wouldn't get his slimy little hands on her. Every time I bring it up, Kit blows me off or changes the subject.

My phone started ringing on my side table, Picking it up , I noticed the caller and instant fear went through my body. If he was calling me personally then he was not happy with me. Maria must have already told him what I wanted. I quickly answered the phone. "Hello Leif, I've missed you."

"Cut the bullshit Selena! I want you on that plane tomorrow!"

I gulped as I realized mother must have given him the bad news which was why he was calling so I decided to play dumb. "Didn't Maria tell you that I wished to stay here with my friend for the summer?".

"As your Alpha, you will obey me Selena, bring your friend to!"

"Huh! I can't get her to come with me Leif, that's why I wish to stay here."

"No f*cking excuses Selena, you both better be on that plane tomorrow! Is that understood?"

"Yes, I understand!"

"The girl is to be with you Selena, she can be useful to the pack!"

I just heard what my brother said. What does he mean by useful? I didn't want Kit hurt, I just wanted to protect her and show her a good time and finally let her meet my family. Now my brother was pretty much telling me that I had to bring her which was kinda like a turn of events for me. "Leif, What do you mean by useful?" I asked

"I don't have time to go into details Selena, just bring the girl! You're smart, you'll think of something!"

I heard him slam the phone down as he hung up. This was just great! How was I gonna accomplish this now and what was his plans for Kit? How would she be useful exactly? I'm not sure I wanted to take her with me now as it seemed my brother had plans for her which was not okay with me.

I don't even know why they even wanted me home. My brothers hardly paid any attention to me and my mate ignored me and still hung up on his ex.

I could feel tears of frustration wet my eyes. I would show them all that I wasn't no longer the obedient Selena they use to know, in fact I'd already proven it by losing 40 pounds since the last time they saw me, I smirked.
