. . . SLOANE The room felt unnervingly silent as my breath came in short, uneven bursts. My heart pounded so loudly that I could hear it in my ears, drowning out the hum of the night. The air between me and Damon was thick, suffocating, charged with something unspoken. But as reality came crashing back down of what he was doing and what i was letting him do, I reacted on pure instinct. I hurriedly yanked myself away from him, my lips parting in a sharp gasp, my chest rising and falling rapidly. My mind raced, trying to process what had just happened. The warmth of his mouth still lingered on mine, his touch branded into my skin like fire. My eyes enlarged as I realized what I have done.
