Cory's POV That rat. That stupid, foolish, hideous rat. They were both rats. Cory could smell the bond all over the both of them when he had gone by Ripley's house last night. They hadn't completed the bond; he could tell that much. Ripley probably didn't know anything about it anyway. D*mned fool, she was. Moss gave way underfoot, and a twig snapped. Prowling this way helped clear his mind. The woods were dark, the later part of dusk painting the forest a cool green. A couple of early stars started to blink to life overhead. The earth was cool and wet, Autumn would be here in no time. Autumn. The autumnal equinox. Samhain. All Hallows Eve. Venus would rise. She would rise like a phoenix and take revenge for the pitiful lot of sinners that cursed this earth. A sacrifice.
