Chapter: 13 “I don’t like it,” Zora growled. “Told ya so.” We were walking up the beach in the middle of the night near Wilmington, North Carolina. I was striding along with Zora beside me and Neka bringing up the rear. Zora stared in horror at the ocean—no doubt wishing she could kill it. “Not kidding. This has all the intelligence of forty-grit toilet paper,” she said. Neka’s dam finally broke. He was stumbling along behind us laughing, holding his sides, tripping over himself, and generally failing to keep quiet. “That’s actually a good idea,” I said in mock contemplation, stroking my chin. “Just has some minor marketing issues.” Wilmington was a three-hour drive from Raleigh.
