Aria's POV
I don't know what happened, what final straw broke in their relationship upstairs, but suddenly I heard it. The sound of wheels on hardwood, aggressive and violent, followed by footsteps thundering down the staircase.
I saw Maddy dragging her suitcase from the top of the stairs, her face flushed red with anger and humiliation. Her perfectly styled hair was dishevelled, mascara smudged beneath her eyes like she'd been crying. The white silk robe she'd been wearing earlier was gone, replaced by designer jeans and a cashmere sweater, thrown on hastily, the price tags still hanging from the sleeve.
