ETHAN POV

1056 Words
Is this how home is supposed to feel like?I wondered as I strolled through the garden, allowing the warmth of the sun to penetrate my skin.It was another new life entirely, welcoming and embracing your werewolf side. Now, I understood the excitement behind it. I felt alive, strong, and invincible…almost like nothing could defeat me.Ethan was teaching me the ropes since there was no one else, and the chemistry between us anytime he came close, sparked dangerously. After what happened with James, I wasn't sure I could trust anybody else- especially a man- but Ethan has shown me the meaning of love.He was the sweetest, most attentive, kind, and thoughtful man I've ever met and against my desires, with each passing day, I found myself falling in love with him.And to some extent…I think Ethan also feels the same way.Controlling my urges as a Changed wolf hasn't been easy. Everything was now heightened- my sense of smell, taste, hearing, and even my emotions. It made it hard to think logically, especially when I was around Ethan.“Boom!” Someone yelled behind me, and I screamed in response, jumping up and running a couple of steps away.I turned around with my chest beating loudly, pounding hard in fear until I saw the culprit, laughing and smiling loudly at my reaction.Ethan.“You!” I hit him playfully on his chest in mock outrage. “What the hell? You scared me.”“That was the plan!” He winked, and I shook my head at his silliness. I left him standing there and continued my walk into the garden. He caught up to me some minutes later, jogging lightly on his feet. “What are you doing out here by the way?”“I was tired of staring at four walls all the time.” I looked at him. “You?”“I just spent four hours replying to messages and talking to old, cranky men.” Ethan sighed. “I was tired, if I didn't get a break, I'd go nuts. I saw you from my office window, and I decided to join you.”“What do you do?” I plucked a flower off a branch, inhaling its fragrance. “All I know is that you stay in this huge place all by yourself.”“I own a couple of businesses offshore but I'm also next in line to be Alpha, so I'm learning the ropes in case my dad ever decides to drop the ball.”Oh. Now the dominant, arrogant vibes he gave up was coming from a place.“Too much?” Ethan prodded a couple of minutes later when I didn't say anything.“Oh, no-no…it's uh, just a lot to take in,” I tell him before I turn around to face him, walking backward. “But if you're supposed to be Alpha, then aren't supposed to be in the pack house. Why here?” I spread my hands to encompass the large estate we were taking a stroll in.Ethan grew pensive very quickly, the smile falling off his face. He also plucked off a flower but he studied it instead for a minute.I gave him time to think through his thoughts. Thrusting his hands into his pockets, Ethan squared his shoulders staring at me before looking away, into the distance.“Ever since I was a kid, I've also known how important I was to the pack. My dad always made anything concerning me a really big deal, and as a kid, I loved it but the older I grew, I realized that all it did was set me apart.” Ethan glanced briefly at me. “I had friends and I am loved by the community…but sometimes, I just wondered, if they loved me for me and not because I'm the Alpha's son.”I reached out to hold his hands, twining our fingers together as I silently offered him comfort. “Also, having that title on my head gradually felt like a noose around my neck and I slowly realized that…all my life, everything I've been doing has only been a front. Nothing was real, and I hated it so I bought this place, converted it to my style, and ever since, this has been the only place…I can truly be.”His story was touching, bringing tears to my eyes especially when I could relate to it.I reached up on tiptoe to cup his cheeks, ignoring the bristles of his beard digging into my palm. I looked into his eyes as I spoke. “No matter what you think about yourself, one thing I know that is certain is that your people love you, genuinely love you. I've seen the way Martha, Ben, and Gerald are around and if that's not love, then I don't know what is.”Ethan's eyes darkened with emotion, and he closed his eyes briefly bringing his head down so his forehead could touch mine. His eyes opened and I was instantly swallowed up in them. Our breaths mingled in the small space, the air getting charged with explosive chemistry. It felt like the earth stood still, everything else faded to black.Ethan's head gradually came down until less than an inch separated our lips, and then he paused as though asking for my permission. My hands which had encircled his body moved up to fist his clothes, silently agreeing.Ethan went for the kill, and just as his lips were about to land on mine…“Ethan darling, where are you?!” A high-pitched feminine echoed through the air, bursting through the bubble we were wrapped in, and Ethan jumped back so fast, trying to distance himself from me.“What's happening?” I whispered, blinking in confusion.“I-” Ethan had opened his mouth to explain when someone rounded the corner. And judging by the way Ethan's mouth dropped, it was obvious they knew each other. It was a tall lady with long, silky brown hair dressed up like a doll in a skintight leather dress, diamonds, and sky-high heels. She planted a kiss on Ethan's lips, wrapping her hands around his neck while Ethan looked extremely uncomfortable. “Hey baby, I've missed you so much!”I stood there in shock, looking from Ethan to the girl…Just what the hell is going on?!
