“Ah, the champagne will have to wait for after dinner. We don’t delay Mrs. Pitts when she says dinner is ready,” Ginette said. “Shall we all retire to the dining room?”
The collection of men surrounding her—her husband, her cousin-in-law, her son, her employee—all nodded appreciably, as though they had no choice but to acquiesce to her suggestion. Noah, though, was still reeling from the words spoken by Chief Hatcher. The killer had been caught, which was wonderful news, but how Noah figured into the equation evaded him.
