The dream

Ann pov I'm a little girl sitting with my dad, and he was singing to me, I felt the warmth of the sun on my skin in the comfort of his arms around me and I want to stay there forever. When I wake up, I missed the dream. I have had this reoccurring dream and i want so badly for this dream to be real, but that's impossible because my dad died when I was really little. And I can't go out in the sun, like at all. I have a rare genetic condition called familial Atypical mole melanoma (FAMMM) syndrome, which basically mean a severe sensitivity to sunlight. If the sun hits my skin, I get skin cancer, my brain starts to fail and I could die. That's fun right?. So I spend all my time indoors behind my windows, hanging out with my mom, who is the best mom ever. ThankGod, because growing up wasn't fun at all. I have been called a vampires from other kids because of the windows I always stay to avoid sunlight. So they stay far far away from me. But not everyone was afraid of me. Her name is Lizzy, she had come to the house one day to ask my mom what's wrong with me. "Hey baby girl" "What's wrong with her" she asked after she knocked at the door and my mom came to open the door for her. "She has something called FAMMM, basically the light from sun, it hurts her, so she can't go under the sun" my mom explained to her. "I can't be in the sun for too long either. Can she play at night? She said " Yeah, but......" "See you tonight". She cut my mom's statement short,With that she left. From that point on, it was me, Lizzy and my mom. Until the day I say Michael, and that was it. I was completely, totally, utterly hooked. From then I could watch him everyday from my window, and yet he had no idea I even existed. Overtime, watching Michael go by just became a part of my daily routine along with doctors constant appointments, sleeping during the day, and staying up all night and playing music any chance I get Which, from what I have heard is the schedule of most teenagers. All things considered, I think I should be grateful. And I was still holding on to my dreams, no matter how impossible it may look. I attended an online class, and it was our graduation day. My mom had gone to school on my behalf for my certificate. I was in my room when she opened the door with a smiling face, I couldn't help but smiled back. She was putting on my graduation outfit. "What are you wearing" I asked her giggling. "Oh. Cap and gown. Huh? The faculty and staff always wear one." "Here you go" she said again, while handing over the cap to me . I collected it quickly and wore it. "Thank you " I said "Most importantly, this is for you" she handed me a paper, it was my certificate. I gasps. "I assume as your valedictorian, you have got a nice speech for me, right? She said". "Urm, yes. First , I would like to thank my most amazing mom, my teacher. " " Oh, my pleasure " " But I really wanna state for the record that my English teacher had absolutely no idea what she was doing ". " What, oh, you suck! I only taught you what I know ".with that we both laughed. " Alright, are you ready for your present ? "There's Present involved? " Oh, there's a present, it's graduation ". With that she left the room and came back almost immediately with a new guitar. I was really excited since music is what I love doing and my dad also play guitar before he died. " Mom I love it. Thank you , thank you so much I said while hugging her tightly. "Try and get some sleep alright" she said then kissed me on my forehead and left the room. I played with my guitar a little before I turned off the light and tried to get some sleep but I couldn't. I could hear people's chattering from my window so I stood and opened the curtain then I saw families celebrating the graduation outside. I have always wanted to live like every other normal girl out there, but I can't. That moment I wanted to go out and have fun outside not behind some windows, but I didn't know how to convince my mom to let me out since it was almost midnight. Well I decided to try first, so I left the room and went to look for my mom. I saw her in the kitchen doing the dishes that time, I guess maybe she wasn't feeling sleepy either. "Oh here you are" "Yes my baby, do you want something? She asked without turning to look at me. " Urm, I was wondering if I could go play my new present at the train station tonight?. With that she turned around. "It's late honey, why can't Lizzy come over? You could play here for us. My mom usually doesn't let me out even at night since I was a child. The doctor told her during our last appointment that now is a very risky stage since I'm now a teenager, because I would want to start having fun. But my mom has assured her that she's going to protect me since she has been doing that. You know I feel bad for my mom, she lost my dad and there's no quarante that she won't lose me too. But I don't want to be held back, so I'm going to live my best life in my last days although being very careful so my mom wont lose me sooner. Sometimes she will be very sober when the doctor are reminding her of the dangers involved in letting me get under the sun.sometimes I'm scared too,you know, knowing that you won't live for long ,but in all I was still grateful .
