Chapter Two

Sulem walked into the kitchen and she put her hair on top of her head like a loose bun. She was feeling back pain even more now, the baby was moving all over in her stomach. She rubbed her stomach over her uniform as she opened the fridge. She pulled out some peaches and kiwi's and set them down on the counter and closed the fridge. The baby moved and Sulem smiled in happiness. "You are causing me pain." She whispered as she looked down at her stomach and rubbed it slowly. The baby moved again and Sulem's smile grew. "What has you smiling like that?" She heard Ryan enter the kitchen. "Is it my beautiful nephew or niece?" Ryan smiled as she rubbed Sulem's stomach. "Yes, it is." Ryan bent down getting level with Sulem's stomach. "Hi baby, it's auntie." Sulem sighed. Ryan stood to her feet and hugged Sulem. "Are you okay?" She pulled back and looked Sulem in the eyes. Sulem nods her head. "I am. I'm just...I'm still getting used to being pregnant and soon to experience motherhood and Chris's fatherhood." Tears slid from her eyes. "I'm just happy." Sulem cried causing Ryan to pull her back in for another hug. Gosh, her hormones were all over the place. She couldn't control her emotions and it just made her sink even more into that emotion. "Damn Ryan, what did you do to my babe?" Chris's voice echoed through the kitchen. Ryan pulled away from Sulem and Sulem wiped her tears. Chris walked in and followed by June causing Ryan to instantly become irritated. Chris walked straight over to Sulem and gripped her chin with his thumb and index finger. He turned her head back and forth. "Chris, I'm fine." "Why are crying?" Chris stared into her teary eyes. "I'm hormonal and I'm happy." She breathed. Chris eyed for a moment longer before kissing her forehead. "Chris, mama called and she wanted me to tell you to call her. She says it's very important." Ryan tells her brother. She could feel June's eyes on her but she ignored them. "Aight. I'll call her." He said before turning back to Sulem. "What time do you leave for work?" "I leave at 8:30 p.m." Sulem sighed tiredly. She was slowly waiting on her to take a leave. "Come on. I'll drive you." He said as he grabbed the keys and Sulem's right hand with his left. "June, watch her." He said to him making Ryan grow infuriated with his order. "What! No Chris. I'm a grown ass woman and I can take care of myself." She protested. June just stood in silence. He didn't want to be around her either but he was just following his rules. Not acting out. "Get over it, man. I'll be back." He walked out of the kitchen after Sulem grabbed her fruit, leaving the two in the kitchen alone Chris and Sulem walked around the corner and Sulem spoke. "You know they can't stand being near each other." Chris shrugged. "I need to make sure she's good, whether she agrees or not." Sulem exhaled a breath as Chris opened the door for her and walked out behind her. "But knowing she doesn't like June would complicate things for you, right?" Chris shook his head. "No, that's not my business what goes on between them. I just want my sister safe. Same to you. Tasha is still out there and knowing her, she will try coming for you and I'm not having that." His words took her to thought. Tasha was out there, god only knows and she hated that she has to watch her back. She knew Tasha was delusional and had some thought of thinking Chris was hers. "I know but sometimes I feel she is lurking in the bushes. Spying on me and I hate that I have to look over my shoulder." "The last I hear about that b***h being held in a psychiatric hospital." Chris opened the door for Sulem. She got in and he closed it. It was cloudy and it was about to rain. Small droplets fell from above, hitting the car and the ground. After Chris got in, he started the car and was on the road. The car was in silence causing Chris to look over at Sulem. She still worried all over her face. He knew it was all due to her being pregnant by him and Tasha having lunatic imagination of Chris and her being together. Chris grabbed her hand and placed a kiss. He had her and he would never let anything happen to her. **** Ryan grabbed her phone off the counter of the kitchen and turned to walk out just to slam into June's chest. Her phone slipped out of her hand and landed on the floor. "What the hell?!" She bent down and grabbed her cracked phone before looking back up at June. "What is wrong with you?" She yelled. June exhaled a breath. "I'm sorry but you continue to escape from me." Ryan snorted. "At least we're in the same house! I don't need you on my back every fvcking second!" She pushed past him. "I hope you know you're buying me a new phone!" She yelled as she walked out of the kitchen. "Dumbass..." she mumbled. Sometimes she wished she could get away from him just for a few hours but he would be around no matter. She was sick of this security mess. She felt locked in and she wanted to be freed. She was thinking that all the things Chris was doing were unnecessary. She loved her brother with everything in her but she did not need this. She could take care of herself.
