It was dark almost like an abyss, Athena found herself in a dark room, there wasn’t a single trace of light around her, all she could hear was screaming coming from the other side of the room, it was terrifying snapping and cracking sound almost as if bones were being broken.
She could hear a woman crying, shuffling “I love you” between words and then dead silence, Athena shimmered into a fold and rested her head on her legs shivering as tears rolled down her eyes.
She raised her head when she heard a banging on the wall, someone was trying to get into the safe room, the sound kept getting louder and louder and as it did Athena rolled back in fear.
The door was finally broken through and two hefty men walked in and paused at the entrance leaving an opening for a man to walk in, Athena couldn’t see the man’s face clearly but she saw the blood sparred on his white shirt and behind him on the other side of the room laid the body of a woman who bones had been broken and exposed, her eyes looked directly at Athena as another hefty man stuffed her into a suitcase.
The face smeared man adjusted the hems of his suit and looked at Athena with a snare, “bring her with me”. Athena watched with wide eyes as two hefty men approached her, she kept moving backwards screaming ‘don’t touch me!!!! Don’t … touch… me!!!!
“Athena wake up, wake up!!!!!’
Athena was jerked awake by jasmine’s aggressive shrugging, she had jerked so hard she almost had a headache. Trying to come to terms with her dream, the splitting headache she felt coming on and jasmine’s still holding her so tight, Athena looked around herself and saw she wasn’t in her usual dark and lonely attic but now she was in a classic styled bedroom with pink painted walls and style charms and hanging butterflies, it had an orange wired lighting on the wall spelling out jasmine… it really gave a teen hippie vibes which sometimes made her jasmine’s maturity in styles.
“how long was I out”
Athena asked jasmine who was still looking at her in concern.
“Two days, you fainted when we got into the house and the doctor said you had a fever, your temperature was as high as 35 degrees which could have fried your brain.”
Athena looked at jasmine in shock, she didn’t expect herself to go down that hard, but thinking about what had happened in the past few days, it made sense her body cave in.
She looked at jasmine, she was thankful she had a friend like this who she could call on, her and jasmine had been friends for a long time. Jasmine was from the wealthy Westwood family, they were one of the top dogs in the technology industry even the Lu’s had to give them the required respect.
Mr. Lu had invited Mr. Westwood and his family for a business dinner off course Athena wasn’t allowed to attend the dinner, in other to curry favor with the Westwood’s Mr. Lu had initiated jasmine and Camela venture off to play, Mr. West had gladly agreed but after jasmine got to play with camela for a little while, she started crying and ran away from her after camela pushed her around.
The family joined to look for her but later found her in the attic with Athena. Athena had said she found her playing in the snow but brought her inside to warm up after it was getting really cold.
The West had tried to inquire about Athena’s identity but the Lu’s covered it up saying she was a distant relative who liked to be alone and was autistic, Ever since then the West’s had allowed Athena and camela be friends with both having play dates .
After recovering from her fever Athena told jasmine she was going to look for a job, she didn’t want to be a burden to jasmine. She wanted to earn enough money and with her little savings, get her own place even though jasmine had told her she could stay for as long as she liked.
Athena didn’t have much qualifications, the Lu’s didn’t want to waste their money on her so she had to rely on her brains and earn a scholarship through a competition, even at that she still didn’t tell the Lu’s she had gotten into college until camela found her out and told her parents.
The Lu’s hadn’t allowed Athena go to school unless she paid them an agreed amount even month, so Athena had to work part-time and still go to work but she kept up her grades and saved some money for herself.
She had gotten a scholarship to study , which was the study of diseases. Athena had chosen this course because she wanted to find out more about her mother’s death. The Lu’s had always told her, her mother died of a rare disease and Athena had even received an autopsy report confirming this. But only Athena knew that her mother didn’t die of this rare disease, she saw her mother get killed at a young age.
Though the details were still blurry to Athena, she could still remember some fragments of it from her nightmares. No one had believed her when she said this so she kept quiet all together and made a vow to find out the truth.
Studying would give her access to all the research she needed to find out the truth about her mother’s death but she also didn’t give up on her passion “Fashion”.
Athena had a lot of grievances to settle with the Lu’s for all they had done to her and with that mysterious man who had taken her innocence on the night she was supposed to expose the Lu’s.
She still couldn’t figure out if she was drugged by the man or by someone else or if the man was a separate factor or was a plan with the Lu’s.
Thinking the Lu’s had a hand in her r**e made Athena want to cry, they had taken too much from her but not anymore, she was going to have her revenge one way or the other.
Thinking about her night Athena held her mouth and exclaimed as she had forgotten to take a “morning after “ pill, it was her first time, she didn’t want anything to happen to her.
She had wanted to do a test but stopped after thinking about the man from that night, he looked like a rich and elegant man, would he really have infections or diseases, but after thinking of the possibility that the Lu’s might have a hand in it she made a promise to do a check up at the end of the month while she must have gotten enough money.
