Curare's Pov
(Why? Why did they all betray me?)
It all happened that day, the day of my birth was where I was betrayed by those who I thought loved me as I loved them. However, two weeks before my birthday was where it all began.

1886, April 12th
Once more Curare awoke to a new dawn where she's closer to her birthday, the next step of the day away in a matter of weeks. But she had a feeling, for on the day of her birth something terrible that Curare could never imagine would happen to the village and herself. Despite this dreaded feeling, she decided to make these last few weeks the best of her life.
Getting ready for the day and after prayers were over, she decided to go out into town to the farmer's market for groceries. And that's where the rumors first started to spread;
"Did you hear about those robberies and such have been plaguing the last few villages?"
"'Heard about it,' my cousin was resided in the few towns over in Pasloei. She told me in her letters that they were stopped. Although, it was by a bunch of unruly hunters and others in "protecting them for a certain bond."
"I heard about that. Apparently, it's more than just food/money they also get their payments by giving up a member(s) by the towns they 'protect' as their collateral.
"How awful!" "Dear lord!"
"Wait a minute, what sort of 'protection' are they implying anyway?"
"For downright anything really. There's minder, preventing an assassination, protecting the towns from wild animals of sorts. Like I said, protection from anything."
(Oh my God.)
Not wanting to stay for long after listening to the dreadful news, Curare hurried home to the Church. However, her father Charles was in the middle of entertaining some guest that stopped by to talk.
"Curare my dear!"
"Hello, father, who are these men I see here?"
"My dear, these fine gentlemen are protectors of the peace to all the villages/towns that have been plagued by evildoers. Because of this, they thought our village wanted help and stopped by to see what assistance we needed. However, by the time that you were gone, I already told them that the town is fine just the way it is and that we are in no need of their services. Isn't that right kind Sir?"
"Yes quite right. Well until then, if you ever need of our help just let us know, and we'll be right over. Good day to you, Father, Sister.
"Good day to you as well."
"Good day."

Later in the day, nearly night,
While almost everyone in their designated homes was almost, Curare stopped in her bedroom, thinking about the rumors she overheard in the market, whereas she felt about the so-called protectors that went to visit her father.
She felt a sense of immoral from their stance, let alone the wicked look in their eyes hidden deep within. Especially from the way how a few of them looked at her through the eyes of desire instead of noticeable fear she'd continuously seen by those who first witness her presence. It brought terror to her being, although she'd hidden it well and brought a sense of strength into her showing that she won't back down.
Still, though, the appearance of these right after hearing the rumors lead her into suspicion. However, Curare had faith in her father driving them away from the village. And yet, she could not stop herself from thinking of the negative terms of 'what if,' if Charles accepted them into their town.
And so, Curare went through the night even from her sleep, dreaming about her negatives thoughts until the fateful nightmares had arrived once more in her vulnerable state of unconsciousness to wreak havoc on her mind, body, & soul.

April 14th,
Days transpired as rumors of the so-called protectors of the towns/villages spread far and wide through each day that passed.
However, the closer her birthday had come, the vaguer her night terrors had become. Although, in some of her dreams that occurred this week alone, a abnormally tall woman in a dark-black hooded cape that covered half her face holding the box. It was now held together in tight chains with a lock, while Curare held a skeleton key that fits perfectly with the lock.
"Who-What are you?" Curare had said with no fear this time, but absolute wonder.
For even though half the woman's face was covered, that didn't stop the charming aura she held just by standing. It makes her think what kind of beauty she possessed when she talks and learns of her name?
"My name is Pandora. You may not know, but Curare, you are something beyond special. For this box that you see here belongs to you and only you, no one else can/could take possession of it."
"Something like this, that has constantly terrorized me almost every night originally belongs to me?"
"Although it is both a blessing and a curse, it is something you have been long destined for, my child. As you shall go through great tragedy to obtain this power that is so rightfully yours on the night of the eighteenth birthday."
"Tragedy?"
"As I have said, my child, the abilities that are yours is both a blessing/curse. With power comes great responsibility. However, the greater amount of powers you have can shift the natural balance of the world far worse then it already is, or for the greater good of life. For it is up to you Curare, on how you wish to command this with your strength of mind."
It was the time in a very long while where Curare could obtain a good night's rest. However, to remember the warning Pandora had given to prepare for the next few days on her eighteenth birthday.
