When I woke up, the black wolf I had left sleeping on the floor next to me was now laying in bed under me. I rolled over to shift my body weight off of him but when I did he just scooted back under my like he was before.
I didn’t know what time it was but judging from the sun glaring at me through the window I guessed it was late in the day. Sighing, I opened my eyes all the way and sat up in the bed.
The wolf rolled over but was still sleep. I ran my hand over it’s fur then got out of bed. I stretched and yawned before walking over to the window and aggressively closing the curtains. Then something hit me, they weren’t open when I went to sleep.
I hurriedly ran out the room making sure to close the door behind me. I knocked on Josh’s door, when I didn’t get an answer I ran down the stairs, tripping at the end and falling on my face. Luckily it didn’t hurt that bad but a deep red stream fell to the floor. My hand shot up to make sure all my teeth were there, they were and that’s when I realized the blood was coming from my nose.
“El?! What happened?!” Josh was at my side guiding me to the kitchen. He sat me down at the table as he grabbed way too many paper towels. “Here wipe the blood off your face I’ll get some ice and put your head back. I did as he said and he soon came back with an ice pack and I carefully placed it to my face. “Does it hurt?!” He asked, worry thick in his voice.
“No, I’m fine just going too fast, not paying attention” he let out a sigh. “Why were you going so fast anyway?”
“The curtains in my room. They were open, I was worried that maybe-“
“That maybe dad opened them and saw the wolf in your bed?” I paused for a second, then nodded.
“No El, that was me who opened them.”
“Oh...” I felt so foolish to have freaked out so much. I looked around and realized. “Where is dad anyway?”
“He left out early this morning. I think he said he was going hunting.”
“Oh so we have the house to ourselves for the day”
“No you have the house to yourself, I’m going out with my friends today.” That was perfect, I could invite Sammy over to hang. Which reminded me. I hopped off the chair, thanked Josh who was going back to whatever it is he was playing and I went back upstairs.
As soon as I walked through the door, something had alerted the sleeping wolf on my bed. It jumped up with a growl and ran to me. It sniffed the blood on my shirt and looked to the door for any danger. I my hand on top of it’s head. “No boy, no danger. I just fell over.” I knelt down next to him and removed the ice pack. “See? It’s just and accident.” The wolf seemed to calm down but then it launched on top of my and licked the blood off my face. I screamed, not expecting the attack and the wolf climbed off and and sat in front of me panting like nothing happened. My face was covered is wolf spit so I, aggressively, rubbed it off and to my surprise it didn’t hurt. Not one bit.
I sprung to my feet and ran to the bathroom. I threw the door open and ran to the mirror. I stared and myself, there was no blood. No marks. No bruise. I dropped the ice pack and raised my hand up to my face, it didn’t hurt. There was no pain. Without thinking, I screamed for Josh. There was no way this was possible. I didn’t move a muscle when Josh ran up to the door, frantic.
“What is it?! What’s happened?!”
“It’s healed.” My voice was barely a whisper.
“My nose... it’s healed completely”
( A/N: I know this chapter is kinda short but I thought it was fitting to end it here. The next chapter will definitely be longer. Have a wonderful day :)
