Sammy

Josh stared at me with shock. “Wha- healed?!” He walked closer to me and removed my hand from my nose. “How?!” I just stared at the mirror “I-I don’t know” “What happened before I came up?” “N-nothing, I just- I went into my room. The wolf jumped on me and licked me and then I came in here to wash it off and I saw... it completely healed.” He froze then slowly turned to the door. I followed his gaze. “The wolf...” was all he said before he walked out the bathroom. Unable to think I just followed him out. When we got in my room we just stood in the doorway. The wolf wasn’t standing where I left it. Josh hurried looked behind the door, then in the closet, then under the bed. He looked over the bed to the open window. We both ran to it and looked out. At the edge of the woods was a shadow, but not of the wolf, it was a man. From the size of the trees he had to be about 6 feet. I couldn’t see his face but the man turned away from us and ran into the woods. “Please tell me you saw that too” I couldn’t do anything but nod at his question. He looked down and ran his hand over the window seal. “Look” I pointed my eyes to where his hand was and saw it. “No claw marks” I managed to whisper out. Then I looked back to the woods. “Do you know what this means?!” I looked over to him just to see a smile plastered on his face. “You don’t mean-“ I knew exactly what he was thinking. It’s was stupid and childish and impossible. Before I could say any of that we heard a pounding sound coming from down stairs. We both ran and hopped out way to the front door. Josh got there first and looked through the peep hole. “It’s Sam” my heart raced faster than it already was. I nodded and Josh opened the door. “Sam! Hey, what are you doing here?”  “El and I had plans to hang out but she’s not answering any of my text. Is she home?”  “Oh.. yea she’s right here” Josh stepped aside and gave me and Sam a clear view of each other. Sam smiled and my cheeks burned under his gaze. “H-hey Sammy”  “Hey El!” “Sorry, didn’t hear my phone go off, a lots been going on” he gave me a worried and confused look. “Don’t worry about it, everything’s fine!” I said before he could ask any questions. He gave me a small smile. “You sure? You look shaken up.” I nodded and watched his gaze shift to my hands. His eye widened, “Is that blood?! What happened?!” Almost instinctively he pulled me close and scanned the room with his eyes. He had the same protective look in his eyes as the wolf. I hid my hand in my pocket and plastered a smile on, “ I’m ok, it was just an accident. No big deal. “Do you have a first aid kit?! To stop the bleeding” I froze, how do I explain to him that I’m not hurt. I can’t possibly say that a magic wolf licked me healed! “I- uh-“ “It’s not her blood!” Josh cut in. I gave a breath of relief when he did. “Yea, it’s-“ “It’s mine,” he interrupted again. Both Sam and I turned to him, and I realized how close we really was, I felt his warmth on my side. “Earlier today I had a pretty bad nose bleed, it happens when I get too hot. She helped me clean it up.” “Yea I was just about to wash it off before you got here” I said, my heart rate slowing itself down. Sam seemed to calm down but still look skeptical. He smiled but it didn’t quite reach his eyes then said, “Well let’s get that cleaned up” He walked toward the kitchen and left my side cold, missing his body heat. With his back to us Josh and I exanged anxious looks before I followed Sam to the kitchen.  He turned the water and as I removed my hands from my pockets. I slowly put my hands under the water. As I let the warm water run over my hands Sam grabbed the liquid soap and helped wiped the blood away. His hands felt rough but soft at the same time. It felt like fire under his touch. I dropped my head, trying to hide the blush I knew crept up on me. He rubbed his thumb in between my pointer and my own where the most blood was. After all the blood was gone Sam turned the knob and the water was off. Getting closer he reaches for the paper towels behind me. “Here you go” he said handing me one with a smile. “Thanks” I studdered out. He nodded in response. After drying my hands and throwing away the paper towel we headed to the living room. “Sorry for coming unannounced by the way” he started.  “Don’t be! I’m sorry for not answering.” “You don’t always have to answer me, you have other things to do, I should respect that!”  “Yea but still” we stared at each other for what seemed like forever before bursting out in laughter. After a while Sam looked over at Josh who was now laying across the couch watching a movie. “You good there Josh?” He asked. Josh shot him a smile, “all good thanks to my sister here” he said signaling a hand my way. “She’s my hero” he was definitely over playing his part I thought but still took the compliment and moved on.  “Oh we were supposed to hang today” I said, “I’ll be ready soon but first I have to get dressed” Sam nodded and sat on my couch. “I’ll wait here, take your time” I shot him a smile and ran upstairs. I had to find something cute to wear. I was finally going to really hang out with Sammy since what feels like forever. I just hope we don’t run into Veronica and that girl Taylor.   ( author now) Omg I haven’t updated in months. Sorry for the weight but a lot has been going on. You know with Corona and everything. Plus there’s school and let’s face it, my grade haven’t been great. But now that I got them up, I’m going to get into the habit of posting again. But it might have to be a post every 2 weeks instead of every week because like I said, I still have school to worry about. Hope you don’t mind too much. Have a wonderful day :)
