7 BUILDING TENSIONS Phelonius transported Irving, via wizard-step, into a large, carpeted room. Irving could see out the large, polarized window onto the roofs of many lower buildings, but he could not see the ocean. He knew, from the smell, though, that it was close. He could see several taller buildings, none of which he recognized. “Pretty posh for an interrogation cell,” Irving said as he looked around the room. “What is interrogation?” Phelonius asked. “I do not know what you mean. I had a conversation in mind when I asked you here.” “You…asked me here?” Irving asked skeptically. “Interrogation is a tactic used by law enforcement, or the military, of which you are both, as I understand it. The goal is to elicit useful information by establishing rapport, t*****e, or other means.”
