Chapter 16-Somewhere in a Deep Cavern

BANG.............BANG.............BANG, a big tan wolf was ramming himself into an invisible barrier. He groaned as he hit the barrier with his head and shoulder. "You're going to hurt yourself if you keep doing that"  a female voice told the wolf.

"Grrrr" he growled at her as he rammed the again.

"I am trying to protect you by locking us in here" she stood behind him. he turned to face the redheaded witch who stood in front of him, she is 5'6 with hazel eyes and a thin curvy body. He growled at her indicating he wanted out of the cave they were currently in. "Don't growl at me" she said sternly. "If you try to go back there they will find you" she hissed at him. "Now transform back, put your clothes on and come eat" she said as she turned and walked back to the fire.

The sound of bones cracking echoed in the cave as the wolf transformed back into his human form, where there was once a big wolf now stood a 6'2 muscular man with tanned skin and dirty blond hair with ocean blue eyes. He pulled on a pair of black sweatpants and a grey long sleeved shirt, he made his way over to the fire where the witch sat eating. "I need to go to her" he sat down across from the witch, "she needs me" he sighed.

The witch glared at him then laughed, "She doesn't need you, she won't even want you" she hissed at him.

"Grrr, she's my mate" he growled at her.

"What kind of mate are you to her? You attacked her and raped her" she hissed.

"I didn't have control, Xander took control away from me I couldn't stop him" he defended himself.

"Yes, well now you're old pack is searching for us, we're not safe" she told him. "If they find us they will kill you on site" she said sternly.

"Can you see if she's okay?" he asked her with pleading eyes.

"I can't risk them locating us" she shook her head. "The barrier I put up is not only shielding our existence but also blocking the outside world from tracking my magic" she told him. "If I try to see her they can track me" she said. "Now eat up and rest" she handed him a bowl of food.

Sleep came quick for the witch but not for Lukas as he stood by the barrier staring out into the darkness, he wanted so badly to leave this cave and go home to his mate. He regretted what Xander did to her, becoming rogue turned his wolf into a monster. He tried so hard to keep his wolf at bay, he almost succeeded until he smelled her scent that night. It was a mixture of vanilla and strawberries, he got the witch to spell him so he couldn't be detected as he made his way into his old territory to find the owner of that scent. He saw her leaving a college party making her way to an empty parking lot, as he got closer to her his wolf started going nuts and started fighting him for control. He tried to keep him at bay but Xander was stronger and took control, Lukas watched helplessly as Xander attacked and raped his mate then took off when he heard someone approaching. Lukas wanted to go back to his mate but his wolf kept running until they were outside the border.

He blames Xander for everything that has happened in the past eight years, Lukas always had a difficult time controlling Xander even when they were young pups. Xander was always a wild wolf with a bad temper, it was the wolf that attacked Sheila eight years ago. Lukas was so happy when it came out that Sheila was Fred's mate but Xander wasn't happy in fact he was pissed and wanted her for himself. He tried to tell Fred that it wasn't him but Xander but Fred wouldn't listen, he lost his best-friend that day and it was all Xander's fault.

After being banished he wanted to find a way to get rid of his wolf, he found the redheaded witch being ambushed by four rogues. He was able to take them out with her help, he tended to her wounds and took her to a nearby cave to rest. The next day they got to know each other, her name is Amber like the color of her hair, she told him how she was framed by a jealous witch from her coven and was banished. He told her what happened to him what he wanted to do with his wolf, she vowed to help him anyway she could. She tried for a year to find a spell or something to help him get rid of his wolf but she came up empty, she taught him how to meditate so he could control his wolf better than before. She covered their scents everywhere they went so rogues couldn't find them and they stayed safe.

He turned away from the barrier and looked at Amber sleeping on the ground in a sleeping bag, he sighed thinking about everything they've been through the past few years. He turned back to the barrier and sighed placing a hand on it, he walked away towards the other sleeping bag and climbed in. He laid there looking at the ceiling of the cave waiting for sleep to take over.

"There's 2 caves in the mountains on the east end of the territory, if they are still here then they could be hiding in one of the caves" Laura a tracker for the Red Moon pack said to the other trackers and warriors that were with her. She 's one of the best trackers in the pack standing at 5'6 with midnight black hair and chocolate eyes, her skin is light tan.

"How do you want to go about with the search" Simon asks her. Simon is the other tracker standing at 6'5 with light brown skin, silky black hair and deep brown eyes.

"You take 3 warriors and check out this cave here" she pulled out a territorial map then pointed to an area on the west end of the mountain. "I'll take the other 3 and check out the other one" she instructed.

"Alright you heard her" he told the 6 warriors in front of them. "Let's head out" he commanded then took off with 3 warriors. Laura watched as Simon led the 3 warriors to the west end of the mountain, she led the other 3 to the north of the mountain toward a cave that led deep into the heart of the mountain.

"Amber.................Amber wake up" Lukas shook the witch to wake her up.

"What is it?" she stretched her arms and sat up.

"I smell trackers" he told her.

"Where?" she asked concerned as she got up off the ground.

"Close by" he told her, "we need to go" he said packing up their things. She helped him with their belongings then drew a circle on the ground. "Stand in the circle with me and I'll transport us someplace else" she instructed him. Lukas stepped into the circle with Amber and wrapped his arms around her and held her close as she chanted a spell, he closed his eyes as he felt the air around them swirling. He opened his eyes and looked around, they were in an alleyway somewhere. "Where are we?" he asked her as he pulled away from their embrace.

"I'm not sure" she looked around, "I was aiming for my grandmother's home on the west coast" she said confused.

The sky was dark and car horns blared off in the distance, the alley smelled of rotten cheese and old bread. They made their way out of the alley and into the street, they started walking hoping to find a payphone or something with a phone book. If they can find Amber's grandmother they should be fine, they walked for what seamed like hours when they finally found a broken payphone.

"Great" Lukas yelled in frustration, "now what" he said looking at Amber. She looked around the payphone to see if there was a phone book but found nothing, she took a look around their surroundings to get a better feel for where they're at. By the looks of the area they were in a bad neighborhood, she had to figure out a way to find her grandmother but she didn't know how. "We can't stay here" he told her pulling at here arm. "This place doesn't look safe" he pulled her towards a doorway.

"If we can find my grandmother we'll be safe" she told him.

"Isn't there a spell you can do to locate her?" he asked her.

"There is but I need something of her's to do it" she explained.

"It's getting dark, we've been at this since dawn" he looked at her, "we need to find shelter for the night" he told her and she nodded in agreement. They walked around trying to find a place to settle down for the night, after walking for almost 2 hours they came across an old run down building. They set themselves up inside the building and made a small fire then ate, after a while they got settled in their sleeping bags and fell asleep.

"What do you mean they got away" Alpha Vincent yelled.

"The cave was empty, but the remains of the fire were fresh" Laura explained. "There was a circle drawn in the ground, the witch must have teleported them someplace else" she told him.

"He must have sensed us nearby" Joel said. Joel is a top ranking warrior, he stands at 6'5 with strawberry-blond hair and grey/blue eyes and sun-kissed skin.

"That's impossible" Laura spat out, "I made sure we were undetectable" she defended. 

"This isn't just some rogue wolf we're tracking Laura" Joel shot at her. "He is our Beta's son, a trained warrior and tracker himself" he explained.

Joel's right" Alpha Vincent said, "you can be as careful as possible and he will still know you're coming" he said in defeat.

"what do you want us to do now Alpha?" Joel asked.

"Go home" he said, we'll regroup after the new year" he said sitting back in his chair and rubbing his temples. 

"Yes Alpha" Laura and Joel said in unison then left the office.
