Now Alex was out of the picture, and things had started going back to normal, but not for Rose. Her heart that was made of gold had now turned stone. Now desperation had now invaded her heart. Lady T's mentality had now colonized her sense of reasoning. "I will make myself a man", she said to herself. Her temper has now doubled and everyone at work is feeling it. You don't want her to see you not working your soul out, because she will make an example out of you and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Not even Ruth. Her friendship with Ruth was now on the cliff of a mountain and it seemed that one more argument might push all they shared into the river. She has now joined the Alliance of the sugar mummies gang, a group of women in their early 40s and late 30s, who date handsome younger men and spend money on them extravagantly to cement their relationship, because no man in his right mind would do so. Obviously, because most of them are old and fat. So it's a sweet symbiosis. The men want funds and the women want their imagination to come to life. Both of them are slaves. The men to their needs and the women to their dreams. Her makeup was now too much. She doesn't think her natural beauty is enough anymore. What about Harry? That is the question everyone is asking. When he found out that Rose was getting married, he found someone else. He was now with Bukola, his classmate in secondary school. Bukola had fallen for Harry since their days in school and Harry didn't give her the same energy back then until now. Harry was her dream man and her feelings had made her committed to Harry with intense passion for him. She could do anything for him. From doing the laundry, to all the other chores you could think of. She made him feel like a king and Harry wasn't taking that for granted, but there was no night that passed by that he didn't think of Rose. Sometimes, life is just a puzzle of comedy and tragedy. There was a calm and a chilly feeling in the air on a Monday morning. The calm was a moment silent because of the bad news that broke Rose's heart the more. Babatunde had given up the ghost. The old soldier joined his ancestors while he slept. Life kept on taking from Rose and didn't give anything back.
It was her birthday week and she would be turning 28 and it was also the week of Babatunde's funeral. Her anger had transited into sadness. She mourned his passing in white, as she assumed that he was the angel of her life. She was in Babatunde's place sympathizing with his children, when she set her eyes on Harry, who was looking more handsome than she remembered. When Harry saw her, their eyes met, and she looked away. This is because she was not wearing her armour of confidence. It was broken. Harry's eyes were asking questions which she didn't have the answers to. It was now she started realizing how badly she had hurt Harry. "Hi, Rose, it's nice, so see you once again. I am sorry for your loss. I know you are close to him and I can't imagine how you are feeling right now". "Yeah, it's fine. I am sure his gentle soul is resting in heaven now", she replied. "I know a lot has happened this week and I also know it's your birthday, so I was thinking if we could go somewhere to clear our heads. If you don't mind?" . "Sure where are we going?". "Its a surprise. Hurry up" he said, as Rose quickly ran after him to catch up. As they got to the park, they sat on a bench looking at the sunset. They were both quiet looking at the beautiful sunset. They both had a lot to say but couldn't decide who should go first. After the lengthy silence, Harry spoke. "What do you feel that I had that no guy out there doesn't have?". "I have never been drawn to any man like the way I am drawn to you Harry. My feet get chilly when you interrogate me. I fell for you a longtime ago, like someone who jumped out of a plane, and it was a reckless fall. Alex was also something too. He was also very handsome and he was richer than myself and when you refuse to pop the question, I fell for his proposal. I felt you were a reckless lover and it made me scared. No man has ever made me happy as you do and the way you see me is incredible, but I traded that for a dream, a future that came crashing and I broke your heart and am sorry for that". At this point, Rose's eyes had started dripping tears. "I have already forgiven you because you are the most intelligent woman I have ever met in my life. Your beauty also interrogates my feelings. Your focus and determination are mind-blowing and from the very first day we spoke I had a crush and, after a few weeks, I was in love with you". "So do you still feel the same way?" asked Rose. "I was very sure then, but now its complicated. I am in a relationship now and I do care for her". "Well, I must say she is the luckiest woman in Lagos". "Yeah she is special". "We should be going now, it's getting late", said Rose.
When Harry got home he was confused. A part of him still wanted Rose. It was like if it was not Rose, then it would be that he was settling for less. The choice was heavy on his shoulders. After a long debate in his heart all through the night, he was still not certain about what he wanted. When Bukola came to visit him the next day, his feelings for her had evaporated and after he gathered courage to tell her about Rose, he ended the relationship. Bukola could not bear it and she left in tears. Harry felt sad about it. It broke his heart too. When the guilt of a heart breaker left him, he called Rose. "Hello dearies". "Hi Harry, how are you doing?". "I am good. Can you come to the All Classic Bar?". "OK, I hope I am safe?" she inquired. "There is a nice table for two right here. I was wondering if you could join me". "I am on my way". When they met, the connection was electric. "Here we are again. I guess we do need each other more than we think", said Rose. "Its like we are made for each other. So, my love, can you go onstage and say something sweet to begin the afternoon?". "Ok darling, this is for you". While she was there, she looked at the faces of the people in the place, and she was shocked to see Ruth, Mr. Tunde, and others clapping. Her joy was full and her bowels were filled with sweetness. "I once met a man I called Mr arrogant. He was so cute that the ladies called him Bop Daddy. He took me on a roller coaster of feelings and dropped me in a tight spot. I was left chasing the cloud and when there was trouble in paradise, he saved me. Twice actually. Our differences had separated us, but fate still found a way. I guess he was made for me". The speech was followed by a unified clapping from everyone. After the speech, Harry joined her on stage. "Rosemary Olumide, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?". Tears of joy went down her cheeks. "Yes, the honor is mine" and he got up. They hugged. Ruth and all her well-wishers came to join them on stage. Everyone that witnessed it was still clapping till they left. They then drove to the park to their favorite spot. "Promise me you willn't hurt me like Alex". Harry then placed his hand on his chest and said, "This is a true love story, so it can't be compromised". Their eyes had met and as they looked into them they kissed. Indeed, they were made for each other.
