The Rescue
It was nearly midnight when Lucas burst into Evans' office.
"We found them."
Evans stood instantly.
"Where?"
"An abandoned warehouse near the old harbor."
Within minutes, black SUVs raced through the empty streets.
Rain lashed against the windows.
Evans sat in the front seat, his eyes fixed ahead.
No one dared speak.
Inside the warehouse, Ami struggled against the ropes.
She had managed to loosen one knot, but not enough to free herself.
Suddenly...
The sound of tires screeching outside shattered the silence.
The kidnappers grabbed their weapons.
"Boss! Someone's here!"
A loud crash echoed through the building as the front doors burst open.
Security officers stormed inside.
"Don't move!"
Gunfire rang out.
The kidnappers scattered.
In the middle of the chaos, Evans ran straight toward Ami.
She looked up.
"Evans!"
He untied the ropes around her wrists with shaking hands.
"Are you hurt?"
She shook her head.
"No."
For a brief moment, he pulled her into a tight embrace.
"You scared me."
The words slipped out before he could stop them.
Ami slowly wrapped her arms around him.
"I'm okay."
Lucas approached, breathing heavily.
"Most of them escaped."
Evans frowned.
"And the leader?"
"Gone."
Just then, one of the guards picked up a phone left behind by the kidnappers.
Its screen was still lit.
A single message had just arrived.
Mission failed. Prepare Phase Two.
Evans' expression hardened.
This kidnapping had never been the final goal.
It had only been the beginning.
As police escorted everyone outside, Ami glanced back toward the dark warehouse.
Hidden in the shadows, a familiar figure watched them leave.
Vanessa.
She smiled faintly before disappearing into the night.
The war against Evans Kingston had only just begun.
