Chapter 12

1518 Words
{LIAM} "SURPRISE!" Someone spoke behind me. It was a voice I recognized. I stopped reading the newspaper I was holding with both hands. I hadn't noticed that the door to my office at home had already swung open. I turned my swivel chair to face the woman I least wanted to see. She was wearing high red stilettos. She also had on a tight little tube dress that exposed her cleavage and long cream-colored legs. She took haughty steps towards me. I couldn't react immediately. Mixed emotions were swirling inside me. I was afraid that Victoria would find out everything about her. I'm angry at this woman, and her presence makes me want to lash out. I don't know what to feel first. Before she could wrap her arms around my neck, I threw the newspaper I was holding above my table. I firmly grabbed both of her wrists and gave her a sharp gaze. If looks could kill, she must be stone cold dead by now. "Hey, what the hell is happening here?" Laurie asked, looking at us. She was blocking the doorway. I saw her surprise when she saw the woman standing in front of me. "Where is she?" I asked Laurie, referring to my wife, Victoria. "She's still in her room, getting dressed. We were going to invite you for lunch outside," Laurie replied, keeping her angry gaze on Ella. I couldn't blame her. We both felt the same way towards this woman. "Go to her immediately. Don't let her come out yet. I won't join you for now because I have a rat to catch and throw out of my house," I said firmly, now glaring at Ella. But she continued to smile at me. Once Laurie had left the doorway, I forcefully pulled Ella out of my office and out of my house. How dare she show up in our house! Doesn't she have any shame? "Liam, ouch! You're hurting me!" She almost cried when we reached outside. I led her to my car. I didn't care that her stilettos were almost broken or that my grip on her wrist was leaving marks. That was nothing compared to the harm she had done to my wife. I threw her into the passenger seat and slammed the door shut. Then I went to the driver's seat and started the car. I didn't know where to take her. Whatever! Anywhere can do. "How dare you treat me like that?" she asked with a sharp tone. "Can you please be quiet!" I shouted back at her. My voice was filled with intense emotions. My chest was rising and falling. After a while, I heard her laughter. "So, the rumors I heard were true. You're married to the daughter of the middle-aged lady that my car hit. And what was that for? Did you have to go to this extent to ease your guilty feeling? Like, seriously?" She sarcastically said to me. I tightened my grip on the steering wheel. I forcefully swerved the car to the side of the road. We were currently on a bridge. Underneath it was a deep river. "Get out!" I said firmly. I saw in the rearview mirror that she hit the back of the shotgun seat. Feeling weak, she held her forehead, which was now turning red. I didn't feel any pity towards her. She followed my command. Good! Because if she had resisted, I would have been forced to drag her out of my car. "I thought we weren't close enough for you to talk to me about things. You're just my father's goddaughter, nothing more to me. You should shut your mouth!" I said coldly to her. She gave me a dirty look. "Why do you react like that, huh? Don't tell me you already love that woman?!" She angrily asked. I avoided making eye contact with her. "Stay away from me. Never show up in front of me again. I'm done with my business with you," I said as a final statement before leaving her in the middle of the traffic. She tried to catch up with me, but I gave her a fierce look. She stopped in her tracks. I finally got into my car and quickly drove away from the scene. I hope it serves as a lesson for her not to interfere with my life. {ELLA} "ELLA?" My dad called out my name on the other line. I rolled my eyes. "Send the driver to pick me up. I'm stuck here on this stupid Crescent City Connection!" I replied annoyed to Dad. "What are you doing there? Where is your car?" he asked, which only made me more irritated. I couldn't help but stomp my foot in frustration, but that caused the heel of my stilettos to break. I almost lost my balance. This is totally s**t! The whole thing! And the only person I can blame for everything that happened now is Dad. But before I explode in anger at him, I need to get out of here first. The sun is scorching hot. I'm sweating and my skin literally hurts. All my efforts to look good will go to waste because of this. "Just send someone to pick me up now!" I shouted and then hung up the call. I'm getting impatient with him. Annoyed, I pocketed my expensive gold-colored cellphone in my fancy sling bag. I crossed my arms as I watched the cars passing by in front of me. Occasionally, I sneezed. I can't handle the dust coming from the cars and vehicles. Once I get home, I'll take a luxurious bath. I've been staying too long in this dirty place. My place should always be inside an air-conditioned car. I scowled deeply when a car stop in front of me. The boy on the passenger seat was looking at me. Maybe he noticed my broken stilettos because I saw him laughing at me. I stared at him with angry eyes. Doesn't he recognize me? I'm the most sought-out model in New Orleans. You can see my beautiful face in every magazine. How dare that boy laugh at me? I just gave the boy a mean look until his taxi finally moved forward. I had to wait for almost an hour before I was finally picked up. This life is so frustrating! "Good thing you still made it! I thought you had no intention of picking me up because of how slow you were!" I angrily greeted Dad's driver. "DAD, why did you do that? Why did you keep everything from me?" I angrily asked Dad. He paused in the middle of sipping his coffee. After the hit and run accident I was involved in, Dad immediately sent me abroad on the same night. I was disappointed that I would be leaving Liam behind and wouldn't be able to see him again like I always did. Even though he ignored me, I still tried to get close to him. I like him, and there's nothing wrong with what I'm doing. My parents, especially Dad, promised me that he would keep me updated on everything happening in Liam's life. Dad was the best friend of Liam's Dad. Liam's Dad, Miguel Davis, was consistently running for senator in our country, while my Dad, Louis Smith, owned the most prominent television agency in our country. After 1 year, I hired someone to monitor and report everything about Liam's life to me. I felt like Dad was hiding something from me about Liam. And he always told me to forget about Liam. He said that I had already having a good life in California and should find a good man there instead. But the man I hired reported something that would shatter my entire world. Liam was already married to someone. When I heard that news, I almost destroyed everything inside my mansion in California. Without any warning, I went back to New Orleans to reclaim what is rightfully mine. I suppose I truly became obsessed with Liam, but I don't care! And who cares, anyway! "I'm just doing what's best for you. You should stop daydreaming that Liam will develop feelings for you. The person is already happy and contented in his life, so don't disturb them. Isn't what he did for you enough?" Dad was now angry with me too. "I love Liam and I will do whatever it takes— "Enough, Ella! You're on your own now. I've already had enough of your bratty behavior towards me and your Mom. I'm done defending your foolishness!" Dad shouted at me before storming out of the living room, leaving his coffee behind. Later, I heard a car engine starting. It was my Dad. I guess he won't be staying at home tonight because of me. I rolled my eyes behind his back. I stomped my way to my room and slammed the door. It's my life. I want to have everything I desire. I won't accept not having everything I want, especially when it comes to Liam. I won't give up on him.
