Richmond
A mate? Now? I followed the scent of citrus mixed with blood out of the house. She was battered and lifeless, blood spilled all over her body.
'Then? Go get her?' Razor, my wolf growled in my head, he'd speed towards her if I let him gain control.
I had searched for her for the greater parts of my life. Now that I am being chased by my curses, by death, she's emerging. I wanted to go back, and sign the contract with alpha Victor, and leave her probably for death, after all I was close to mine.
No, I couldn't let her die, even if I don't mark her, I should protect her. I sped towards her, and made for the pack's hospital as quick as I could.
"I met her lying on the floor." I told the emergency team when they asked what happened as they pushed her into the emergency room. I held the young doctor, when he turned, I grabbed him on the collar of his coat, firmly. "If she dies, die as well, you won't like dying in by hands."
"I'll call Dr Lisa, she's my attending, she'll manage her." His hands were shievering in front of him.
I went to a clothing shop, bought a new Tee shirt, to change my blood soiled white shirt. I paced around the emergency waiting area. Kicking the wall from time to time. Wondering what to do, especially now my life was ending.
"She's stable. Few of her bones were broken, but they should heal up soon." Dr Lisa patted my shoulder after she left the emergency room. "Who is she?" Her lips distended in a smile, her grey eyes focused on my face.
I didn't realize what she wanted to hear, until that unusual smile fixed her face.
Dr Lisa had been my girlfriend till she found her mate, who was on the edge with me, until we became friends. The search for mate had made me cross with many she-wolves, and Lisa knew about most of them. She thought this one was one of them.
I heaved heavily. "Damn mate." I took my focus from her. I didn't want to talk about it anymore. I was upset with her sudden emergence, especially in a pack I have abandoned.
She leaned towards me. "And how's she like this?" She nodded towards the ICU. She didn't let me reply. "I'm happy you have found the one."
"The one." I fixed my focus on her. "An almost dead one?" My face furrowed. The frustration had reached its highest. "How bad is she, be sincere with me "
"Better you even found her, she's not that bad. She'll be better soon."
"Thank you Lisa."
"You're welcome, Beta. How are you?" She asked, fixing her focus on me, and giving me a serious look. "How's the effect of the curse?" She whispered.
I didn't want to talk about it. "I am fine, probably just counting the days." I threw my face in another direction, off her gaze. I was done talking about it.
I sat by her bed for three days, hoping she makes it, monitoring her for any movement, telling her the reasons she shouldn't die yet. I don't want to know what she did, but who ever did it, I'll rip the wolf apart.
I sensed her fear, I could feel what she felt. Her fear started when the scent of the soldiers gushed through my nostrils. I noticed them pass across the room.
I left her, so I can make her want me. She needed defense from the soldiers, and I knew I was her only chance.
"Where are you taking her?" I asked the soldiers who carried her, while she wailed. "Are you cruel enough to deprive her of medical care? Can't you see she's in bad state." I yelled, my voice touching the ceiling. Anger had mixed with the frustration that filled my chest.
"Oh! Sorry beta Richmond." They sounded excited and surprised when they turned to see me. "The alpha wants her." One of the soldiers answered. "She's his wife."
His wife? When I went on a peace negotiations in a pack far away from Lopar, alpha Victor never mentioned marriage. He slept with who ever he wanted and that's it. How would he have married my mate, and why?
My focus went deep into her eyes. She has a husband, the alpha. And alpha Victor is cruel and ruthless to leave her for death in that condition.
'He hurt our mate.' Razor growled, I felt him pacing furiously. Her mind had hate for Victor too, I felt it, her eyes told me too.
"Leave her immediately." I ordered. "I'll bring her to the alpha." I growled. "NOW" I shouted at them when they hesitated.
I drove her to my island, Lisa had promised to come when necessary. I couldn't take the chance letting Victor set his eyes on her again.
"I hope you don't believe what they said." She broke the silence that accompanied the long journey to the private island I bought in Blue moon pack.
I didn't answer her. I waited at the entrance of the house.
"The first door along the hallway." I pointed towards the right. "You can rest there." I wanted to hold her, to help her walk towards the room, she'd j******f and tell me not to. I kept my distance.
Doesn't she knows she's mine? Why is she repulsive. I headed towards the left wing of the house.
"Richmond." Her voice was soft, her eyes were subtle. "Thank you."
I felt the emotions in her voice. "I don't know what to believe." I turned and waited. She stopped and waited also.
"He... He wants to marry..." She groaned, and tightened her grip on her rib bones. "Wants to marry me."
I quickly moved over to her, to help her. She gave me a stop signal with her hand. I didn't want to overwhelm her with the newly discovered mate relationship.
"Why?" I didn't want to ask, but I was curious why Victor would want to marry her out of nowhere.
"I don't know. He won't tell. Because I refused, he wouldn't stop abusing me." She groaned and heaved in relief.
"Hey. Let me help you." I kept my hands off her, even when I really wanted to wrap them around her, and show her how much I cared about her.
"I'm fine, beta." She scowled at me. "The doctor said I'll be fine."
I watched as she hopped in to the right side of the house. I waited till the door of the room slammed. I drove out, sped up on the long journey to Lopar pack. My head filled with anger, and the same time trying to find out what the marriage was about.
The anger grew as I drove, Razor trying to take over control. Whatever it had to be, Victor will lose his fangs before explaining. He dared to touch my mate. MY MATE.
The soldiers held me like I was a traitor immediately I came out of the car. How clueless have they become? I trained each of them, I was their commander until a year ago. The night wasn't for them. I have a bigger fish to fry, so I have to comply.
"Where is my wife?" Victor asked, a scowl plastered on his face.
"That's the f**k why I came." I growled. My jaw was clenched, my eyes narrowed. "She's mine now, so I want to add it to the damn contract."
"NEVER." He stood from the chair. The soldiers grip on me intensified. "It'll never happen. She's mine, and there's nothing you can do about it."
Victor knew he can't stand me in a duel. Probably he thought his soldiers would defend him. "She's my damn mate Victor." The deepest of my voice. The lycan curse was close, the reason I wanted to live alone.
I flung the soldiers off me like I took a breath. I went closer to Victor, fixed my narrowed eyes on his. "I am leaving with her as my mate. That's part of the damn contract."
Victor took a step backward. He always does whenever I challenged him.
"I'll include it and send it to your new alpha."
"Now Victor. With an explanation of what this marriage is about." I took a step forward, placed my forehead on his. "Else, I'll tear you apart, and make sure Kamela lives as an omega the rest of her life."
"What are you'll standing there for? Go get those documents on my desk." He swung his hands, one of the soldiers ran out of the living room.
I heard a bang, a shot from a gun. Behind Victor was his good-for-nothing Luna, Kamela, with a gun pointing in my direction. I held the first soldier close to me, before a split of second, the beast had taken over me.
