The club's bass vibrated through the walls so loudly I felt it in my chest even before I opened the door. I had one foot on the ground and the other still in the car when my phone buzzed in my pocket.

I answered immediately, “Yes.”
“Boss,” he said, his voice tight. “Mrs. Bernado is trying to leave the house.”
I stepped out of the car. “What?”
"Yes, boss. She’s at the gate; she told the guards she needed some fresh air."
A muscle in my jaw twitched. “Where is she going?”
“I don’t know yet.”
