Chapter 16

Meera's POV:

I walked close and sat beside her. I kept my hand on her hand slowly. She looked up at me with teary eyes. She leaped and hugged me tight. I hugged her back. For a moment I felt like I'm in the past. I used to sit and cry like this alone.

I calmed her down and made her sit up on my lap.

"Is this ur mom?" I asked her looking at the frame in her hand.

"Yes!" She answered softly.

"Where is she?" I asked her like I don't know.

"Don't you know?" She asked me back.

"What should I know?" I asked again.

"She's no more, didn't my dad tell you?" She said lamely.

"Have you ever seen her?"

I asked rubbing her hair.

"No...." She huffed.

My heart pained hearing that NO .....it fell deep down.

"You want to know something about me?" I asked her.

"What?" She said looking up at me.

"Even I have never seen my mom! She died the day I was born. So I never celebrate my birthday". I said with a heavy heart.

"What?" She exclaimed and got up from my lap.

"Hmmm....." I half smiled.

She sat back in front holding my hand.

"Who took care you then?" She asked with big eyes.

"My uncle and aunty. They raised me up". I said with a small smile.

"And your daddy?" She asked curiously.

"He left me and went away because he didn't want me".

I said painfully but didn't show it on my face.

"Seriously, how can your father do like that? Didn't he love you?" She asked in anger.

"I have nevre seen my father to ask him why he didn't want me?" I told her casually.

"Then you stayed without mummy and daddy all your life?" She asked in soft voice.

I nooded my head with a sad smile. She again leaned and hugged me.

"Shall we go for a girls out?" I asked her breaking our hug.

"Means, only you and me?" She asked surprisingly.

I nooded my head with a smile. Her eyes became bright with a big smile.

"But, will daddy allow me? He never even allows me for my school picnic or anywhere alone!" She said sadly.

"Ho, he won't say anything". I said with assurance.

She thought for a minute and then said.....

"Ok, but only if daddy agrees".

"Fine wait here I'll ask him and come". I said getting up.

"No wait, I'll also come with you". She said in a hurry.

"Ok, come along". I said and we both walked till his room.

I knocked twice and he opened it. He looked at our puppy face.

"What's it?" He asked wiredly.

"We are going out so we need the car keys". I said boldly.

Oce we came, I got to know that he has three cars so the car he gave my uncle was just one out of his collections. I still feel guilty though but nothing can be done now.

Actually, I am nervous like hell. I hope he agrees without arguing. Pari held my hand tightly. We both shared a deep and hopeful look.

He looked at us for a moment, then turned and went inside towards the dressing table he took out the keys from the drawer and brought it.

"Be back before dawn". He said in a serious tone handing me the keys.

I stood in shock. How come this miracle happene? He agreed so fast. I thought in confusion.

"Thank you so much". Pari said in happiness and hugged him.

"I'm going to go get ready, you too get ready fast". She said and ran to her room.

"How did you agree?" I asked him not wasting any time.

"I didn't want to dissoppinted both of you". He said scratching the back of his neck with a small smile.

"You heard our conversation?" I almost stated.

"Hmmm......not fully". He said looking down.

"Yeah I get it!". I said crossing my hands against my chest.

"Hey, I just went to Pari because she was crying. And you were already there". He said trying to defend himself.

"Anyways, thanks for allowing me to take her out!" I said honestly.

"I trust you!" He said smiling.

"By the way I hope you know how to drive?" He asked doubtfully.

"My brother tought me well!" I said giving a assuring look.

"Yeah he would have!" He said and rolled his eyes.

We looked into each others eyes and got lost. When did I start liking this? How did all this happen?...... I just kept staring into his dark brown eyes.

"I'm ready!" Pari's voice broke my chain of thoughts.

"You are super fast little rabbit!"

I said laughing at her.

"She's my daughter! Isn't it?"

Karan said proudly.

"And you are super slow!" She said scarstically.

Karan laughed loudly, I glared at him but he didn't stop.

"Fine, give me just 5min I'll be ready soon!" I said and walked out from there.

I took her to watch a movie, then did some random shopping in the mall. Played some stupid kids games. In the while I learned many things about her, she's a sweetheart. She needs that love and care of a mother. I'm hoping to do my best. Cause I know how it feels.

"Omg....I've never enjoyed so much!" Pari said as we sat eating ice cream in an ice cream palor.

"Is it so?" I asked her smiling.

She nooded her head in every way possible. And I laughed at her antics.

"I'm happy that your happy". I said with an emotional smile.

"Thank you for making my holiday the best!". She said with a big and bright smile.

"Your most welcome!" I said wiping off little ice cream near her mouth with the tissue.

Suddenly we heard a big sound like something falling. We turned to see near the counter a guy tripped with his eatable things on the floor.

"Heee....heeee..." Pari laughed.

"Pari, your not supposed to laugh at someone who's in problem".

I told her nicely.

"Oppos! Sorry, but he actually looked funny". She said again and kept her hands her mouth and laughing.

My head again turned to look at that guy. He started fighting with the other man who bumped into him by mistake. But I couldn't see his face.

Soon he turned and I got a look of his face. And that face I can nevre forget in my life. The face which come in my dreams daily, which hunts me every where I go. How can I forget one of those monsters who ruined me inside out.

I got panicked for a second, what if he sees me? My fear is not him, it's Pari! She is with me. I didn't know how to react. I started shivering from inside.

God, help me....please God help

I prayed within myself.

"Pari, are you done dear? We must leave or daddy will shout for being late!" I tried my level best to sound normal.

"Yup, I'm done! But your ice cream is still left".

She said pointing my cup.

"Let is be, I'm done too. Let's go

before it gets dark". I said and got up taking all the bags.

She too didn't say anything else and got up holding my hand, I rushed as fast as possible. I came to the parking lot getting inside the car. I drove as fast as possible. But I made sure I'm safe with Pari. The whole way Pari also kept quit. She didn't say or ask me anything.

Finally we reached home. But the storm inside my mind and heart has not stopped. After looking at his face even from far. I can't control my emotions.

We stood in front of the door and Pari rang the bell. Karan opened it smiling at us. I just ran inside the room into bathroom leaving all the bags at the threshold.
