The seer had been right about everything from the beginning, but her parents chose to ignore his words due to what they solely believed.

Perhaps, if they had listened...they might still be alive now.

Sylvia had changed for the first time when she was just 16. She had communicated with her wolf for the first time.

She goes by the name, Laura.

She had loved and cherished birds when she was young, but when she got older, she started feasting on them.

She had been famous and insulted for her excessive kindness, but due to the hardships she has faced, it had changed her.

She stayed on her own. She had no pack or family member... she was now a lone wolf.

She had heard stories about Lone wolves who lost their pack members due to enemies' invasion ... they had ended up alone.

They weren't allowed to join other packs as they weren't born there. Besides, they saw Lone wolves as a curse.

They believed Lone wolves would bring them bad luck so they never accepted them.

They never looked at them, they pushed them away.

Sylvia had become one of them and she knew better than to visit any pack.

Memories of when her father made her sit before him to explain something to her.

She had always been training to lead the pack since when she was born.

Her father would always take her to his study, make her sit before him, and explain to her ...things she should know that'll help her lead the pack one day.

"Have you heard about Lone wolves?" Her father asked her that day "No" She confessed while nodding negatively.

"They are wolves that do not belong to a particular pack and they possess no territory" he explained.

"Are they dangerous?" Sylvia asked her father "Not all of them" He said and Sylvia wished he'd expatiate further about what he meant.

He noticed she wanted to hear more due to the expression on her face so he explained.

"Packs keep Wolves in control. Reminds them that they aren't alone and there's someone responsible for them. The moon goddess made it that way" he explained.

"Are packs like your family ?" Sylvia asked, playing with the tip of her hair that her mother had braided.

" Yes my daughter, imagine if my mom and I aren't here to guide your steps, don't you think you would take the wrong step?" He asked.

" I would do that," Sylvia said, attesting to what her father said.

"It's exactly like that. We have Alphas and Luna's and their job is to take care of their members. When they're missing, they might do the wrong thing " he explained.

Sylvia understood "How do they get departed from their pack?" She asked "Some lose their pack members in a war while some gets banished for not going by the rules enforced by the pack leader" he explained.

Sylvia understood what he was saying and she was grateful for this added knowledge from her father, but she wanted to know more.

"When they lose their members in a war. Isn't there a way they can get back on track ?" She asked and he looked at her.

" You're wise indeed," he said and she smiled at her father. He smiled back at her.

"There is ...if they have an alpha male or Luna mate" he replied and Selene had no idea about what the word ' mate' meant.

"What does it mean?" She asked her father and he smiled " The moon goddess cares about us a lot and not just our lives but also about our love lives" her father said.

"I don't understand entirely" she confessed and her father let out a light chuckle. He recognized his daughter and she wouldn't admit to something she didn't do, so he knew she understood but not clearly.

"The moon goddess created us in twos" her father began and she looked at him with keen eyes as her interest aggravated.

"Male and female for themselves, they named them as 'Mate'" he explained and she understood that.

"How do they meet?" Sylvia asked, looking up to her father to meet his gaze.

Her father smiled and it reached his eyes as he started at her with so much love visible in his eyes. He loved her so much.

"They do not have a specific way of meeting each other" Her father began. "They are just naturally drawn to each other" he replied.

"Drawn to each other?" Sylvia said in way that made her dad know that she didn't understand what he meant by that.

"I met your mother when I was 17 at a hunt" he said to give an example. "We just knew each other the moment we met, that's how the mate bond is, you just find each other" he said and she smiled.

It sounded so amusing to her and she wanted to hear more about it, to hear what the moon goddess had planned for them.

"That's so sweet" She commented and her dad gave her that genuine smile again which made her beam.

"yes, and I can't wait for you to mature so you'll find your mate" he said

"Are you pushing me away so soon dad?" she asked and he let out a slight chuckle.

"why would I do that to my little baby?" he asked playfully, grabbing her by the waist and they laughed together.

"I want to go for a ride" she said before revealing her white set of teeth.

"Really?" he asked

"Yes!" she shouted and it didn't take him a second to change into a full wolf.

she hopped on his back and he ran, headed into the woods.

The thought of her father made her sad and she was teary. She was in her wolf self. she had not changed for years.

She had become a full wolf for the first time in her life and ever since then, she had to remain like that so as to survive.

She couldn't forget her father's words about mates, they were destined lovers.

They were destined partners, created to love each other and help each other...she was helpless.

She had lived in the woods all her lives and hadn't changed for once. She had no shelter if she remained as a human, so she lived like an animal.

She feasted on dead animals, slept on the leaves in the warm weather...she wasn't fine.

Years of living in this forest has made little creatures recognize her, they ran and hid whenever she was around.

She was getting more thin as she couldn't find what to eat.

She had come into a conclusion and she was sure about it. All she needed for her life to change was her mate.

The moon goddess was a kind goddess. If she could get interested in their love lives, then she'll definitely be interested in their daily lives.

She would definitely pair her with a man that'll provide her shelter and change her life.

She only had to find him which wasn't an easy task but she believed the moon goddess would also help.

When she could find him, her life would definitely change for the better.
