ARJUN KHURANA
"Are you going to tell me why did you agree to this marriage?" She asked suddenly, and I bristled over her. When I learned she was smart I didn't think she was this smart. It can be a very good thing or it can be very bad. As of now, it seems bad, very bad.
"Because I like you?" I asked with an innocent face and grinned at her.
Suddenly she pushed me off her and climbed over me pinned my hands to the bed with her soft, tiny hands. I just looked at her amusedly. If I wanted, I could've reversed our positions in a matter of seconds but I didn't. I like this position more than the previous one anyway.
"And?" She asked, leaning closer to me. She is feeling more touchy today, isn't she? Not that I'm complaining.
"And what?" I asked, hugging her closer to me when she loosened her hold on my hands.
"You like me. But that's not the only reason for marrying me, is it?" She asked, tilting her head a little. Cute. She just looks like a little kitten.
"And what made you think that?" I shot back with a sly smile on my face. I'm not telling her anything. Not now anyway.
"Maybe the fact that my grandfather asked your grandfather to convince you about this sham. Or the fact that I heard rumours about you being related to the mafia. You tell me, am I right or am I right?"
I looked at her in surprise and I feel a little proud that she figured out things on her own. But I'm not telling her anything now because she hasn't told me her secret yet. It's time for payback.
"First of all, this is NOT a sham at all. Maybe it seemed like that at first but it is not. You and I are going to be married. And about your question, if only you tell me what I want to know and I'll tell you what you want to know." I said. This seemed to shut her up as she avoided eye contact. If I wanted I could've asked my sources to find out about it all but I want to hear it from her.
"Oh, and by the way, I'm not in the mafia. But I may or may not know someone who is related to it." I said and winked at her a little. I saw her eyes widen a little and I chuckled. She just sighed and went limp, putting all her body weight on me.
"Aren't you feeling a little more touchy today?" I teased her, running my hands through her black, silky hair. Oh, how I love this position.
"Just because I'm on a sugar rush." She grumbled but snuggled some more into me and mumbled, "mhmm, you smell good."
"Well I think you should get some rest now," I said trying to pull away from her. Keyword: trying. She just tightened her hold on me more.
"No. I need food now. Go get me food." She whined and nuzzled her head on the crook of my neck.
"You want me to get you food?" I asked in bewilderment. Nobody has ever asked me to get food for them. I ask them to make food for me, not the other way around.
"Yes. Now go." She ordered.
"So bossy." I scowled and she giggled. Seeing her giggle I smiled a little. She looks so carefree now. Just like a little child. How I hope to see her always like this.
When I reached the kitchen I saw Sakshi's dad sitting at the dining table. What is he doing here at 11 pm? Shouldn't he be in his room now? Now I get from where Sakshi got her randomness.
"Hey," I spoke slowly walking towards him. He snapped his head towards me when he heard my voice.
"Let me guess, she sent you to fetch her food?" He asked. Chuckling slightly, he moved towards the kitchen counter.
"Yes. But how-" he cut me off and said, "how do i know? I'm her father. Been there and done that." He laughed and took out a bowl of something and gave it to me.
"It's tomato soup. One thing you should know about her is that she loves tomatoes. Tomato curry or mashed tomato or anything like that. You can give it to her at breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, she'll eat it happily." He said when he saw the curious look that I gave him. Tomatoes huh? Who would've wondered that she likes tomatoes that much? She's surprised me more and more by every minute.
"There's a saying that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I don't know if it's true or not but in Sakshi's case it definitely is. The way to her heart is through the food she loves. So make sure you keep her giving food and she'll be all over you."
"Are you really her dad?" I asked and he looked at me as if I just killed his pet.
"Obviously! Why would you even ask something like that?" He frowned at me.
"Because unlike other dads you're pushing your daughter towards me instead of trying to scare me away, not that you'll ever succeed in it. I'm curious to know why are you doing this." I sad
"Simply because she needs you." He shrugged, "you didn't run from her when you saw her weird antics and you bailed her out of jail too."
"How-" before I could even ask he said, "I know everything that goes on in my daughter's life. She might think I'm clueless but I keep tabs on everything she does."
After the encounter with her dad, I went back to Sakshi's room, carrying the bowl of tomato soup in my hands. I opened the door with my foot as my hands were busy holding the bowl and as soon she saw the bowl she jumped up from the bed, came towards me and snatched the bowl of soup from my hands without even acknowledging me. I stood there dumbfounded.
"Wow, I feel so loved right now," I muttered and went towards the bed and sat opposite to her.
She grinned and said, "thank you."
SAKSHI VARMA
"Uh, why are you looking at me like that?" I asked eyeing him weirdly as he was staring at me continuously without blinking.
"You expressions amuse me." He said, shrugging and still looking at me like I'm some chemistry experiment. I ignored Arjun who was still staring at me and drank my soup in peace.
"So.," I said after I finished the bowl of soup and placed it on the nightstand.
"So..?" He asked me back as he laid on the other side of the bed.
I rolled my eyes and asked him, "when are you leaving?"
"I feel so used right now. You make me do your work and kick me out when you're satisfied? You're so rude." He said in a fake sad tone and put a hand on his chest. But he really looks edible right now. Maybe it's just all the sugar getting on me. Yeah. That might be it.
"Leave before I try to molest you. I don't want to go to jail again and that too because of molestation." I muttered lowly but he seems to have bat ears because he heard it loud and clear.
"Well, if you're the one molesting me then I wouldn't mind getting molested." He whispered huskily, came near me and tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. I just stared at him and pouted a little. Why is he so hot? Thank god I'm high right now, it'll be easier for me to blame the high me tomorrow for today's actions.
"Ugh. Just go to sleep and tomorrow if you dare to breathe a word about what happened today, I'll break your neck." I glared at him and placed pillows between us. There's no way he's sleeping here without pillows between us. He might get heavily injured or die too due to the stunts I might pull in the night. I don't want to be a widow before marriage. Yeah, yeah I know I'm dramatic.
"Why are you placing the pillows here?" He asked, raising his eyebrows. I still don't know how we got here. One moment we were sitting and talking and the next moment we're in my bed. Today has been really weird.
"I'm ensuring your safety," I said laying on my side of the bed after placing all the pillows between us. He moved his body so that his face was towards me and gave me a smirk.
"Are you going to attack me in my sleep?" His smirk widened as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Yes," I grumbled pulling the covers over my head. I was in no mood to play games with him. He just laughed and switched off the lights. Jerk.
But a handsome jerk though.
Not again. At least let me sleep in peace.
Nah. What's the fun in that?
Con dear please leave. Don't make me take drastic measures.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm going. Happy sleeping beside the adonis.
Ugh. Die Con. Do you hear me? DIE.
Sureeeeee. As I said, enjoy.
"Arjun?" I called his name in the dark.
"Yeah?" He replied.
"What do you think of pranks?" I asked him.
"Uhm, they're okay?" He said clearly confused about me questioning that out of the blue.
"Cool," I replied back and closed my eyes.
