Meeting with Grandpa.

1500 Words
Joannah's POV After talking with the gentleman that introduced himself to us as our grandfather's driver, we headed straight to the house to meet this mysterious grandfather of ours whom we had never met before. Reaching at the main entrance of our house I kinda felt nervous and and didn't want to go in. I think all of us felt the same because I saw Jo being hesitant to go in first yet he was leading the way. He turned and looked at us in a suggestive way for me to lead. I looked at him teasingly and put my hand on my mouth to hide the smile I had. Is mummy's big bad boy scared to meet his grandpa for the first time? I asked him raising my eyebrows playfully at him. He just gave me a smirk then went in front of the two of us and led the way. Thats what I thought, you couldn't let me win yah. Jo knocked lightly on the door then we heard mom's voice inside telling us to come in. We entered the house like it was a place we have never been to. I felt like I should walk on my tiptoes not to be heard entering. It was so funny how one can get anxious about someone they have never met but I was really nervous and at the same time excited to atleast see my mother's parent. At least one of them became she has never talked about them and if she did we were so little and we don't remember any of it so I guess my anxiousness was just a natural reflex. The moment we were all inside the house, we went straight to the living room because that's where mom and the gentleman who I knew was our grandfather basically because no any other person was there only the two of them sat in the living room. I took my time to examine him where I was standing before reaching to where he was seated. He was not as old as I thought he would be, he looked handsome and had a neat two layers hair cut and a neatly Shaven beard which had few gray hair and his seating posture was very straight, he was so smart in his long sleeved white shirt and a black necktie tied up to last button. He had black trouser that matched with his coat that I saw on the rack as we were coming to the living room and he also had spects glasses no doubt they were prescribed by a physician by their look . It was basically a suit attire he dressed so formal. When we I made eye contact with him as we were exchanging greetings he gave me a small smile and I looked at him in the eyes and I could have sworn I saw a hint of sadness in his eyes. But it faded away so quickly because he pulled me in for a hug and squeezed me a little bit tighter than I could have thought he would. Damn I didn't even think of hugging him when I met him and here we were hugging like old friends that have finally met after along time. I pulled away from the hug with a shy smile because I didn't know how or which expression I had to show to him. I went to the side where mom was seated and saw her wiping some small tears that were threatening to pour at any time. Jo and Lin too got their share of the hug and Jo received a manly fist bumps and shakes before they both burst into laughter at how they could do it so perfectly like they had ever done it before. We were silent for a minute before mom started introducing to us our grandfather while we all sat down on the carpet floor. Only grandpa was seated in the coach. Even our mom was down on the floor with us. I was even surprised when grandpa just didn't let us greet him while kneeling down. He didn't let us I think because he wanted to just embrace us into hugs to show that he missed us or something. In African families some people still holds the traditional and cultural values. Like you can't sit up in the coach when your elders are also sitting there. But our mom let us do that she said it's okay for her and that those where their days while they were growing up and that now things changed with centuries. Okay kids now that you're done with the greetings, let me introduce to you my father Mr/Dr. Yiga Anthony. Dad I hope you still remember them thats Joannah, Joslin and Joel. Mom was saying our names while pointing to us but my mind had gone to what I had before she said our names. Did she just say Mr. Yiga am very sure she did. I heard her right and grandpa was smiling as he looked like he was examining each one of us to compare if we still maybe looked the same as the last time he met us I don't know but that's what it looked like he was doing. Mom continued her little speech by saying that she is so happy that she has made this decision of us meeting with Grandpa and she thought it was the best thing she won't regret because she thought God had given her more chances of life and maybe she didn't use them and so this time maybe it would have been her last that's why she decided to make it happen. We were all just looking at her to indicate for her to continue and that we also needed more details and explanations but to grandpa's side he was just nodding to everything mom said also he interjected by saying it was so true that it's God that has given them the chance to make this happen and maybe it was the right time. Have you ever been in a situation where your involved in something that has a lot to be told but you know nothing but you just want the ones that knows everything to just skip some part and tell you the main reason as to why everything happened but the narrators are just beating around the bush and you can't even tell them to make it quick, that was the situation I was in that moment. Mom was just still saying the same thing over and over again how she thanks the lord and how it's the right time then at a moment she just stops and look at her palms then sniff then says she is so happy it has happened. We who do not know about what went down in their past or our past because we were involved we just felt a bit bored and I thought it was only me but that changed when I stole few glances from my siblings and they too had the same bored expressions too. Mom is Grandpa related to Mrs Ameria Yiga the lady we found at HRS agency? That was the first thing my little sis Lin said since we got here and at that moment I felt like this young lady right besides me was in my mind and just spoke it out. Yes she is my wife and in fact she is your grandmother. The question was directed to mom but it was grandpa who answered it with a small smile looking at all of us then to mom whose mouth was slightly open when she heard what her father had answered to us. I don't know if she just didn't want us to know about her being related to Mrs Yiga or the fact that grandpa was so quick in answering the burning question but she looked kinda disturbed and uncomfortable about the revelation and confession her father just did. But he had said it and it was done. Now it's was high time the entire explainations be told or else there was no going back. # Author's note Hello lovely Dreame readers.
