Chapter 12 Amara’s POV The sterile, crisp scent of antiseptic was the first thing to hit my senses, cutting through the heavy fog in my mind. I opened my eyes slowly, my head throbbing with a dull, brutal rhythm that made the fluorescent lights above me burn. I was lying in an impossibly soft, adjustable bed inside a massive, private hospital room that looked more like a five-star hotel suite. Polished wood paneling lined the walls, state-of-the-art heart monitors hummed quietly beside me, and a large window offered a view of manicured gardens outside.
