I parked my car at a hotel then waited there. I reached under my seat and got a box. I placed it on my lap and opened it. In it was a blonde wig, a makeup bag and a change of clothes. I quickly changed in the clothes and placed the wig on my head. I used the overhead mirror to do my makeup and by the time I was done I was sure I wasn’t recognizable. I called an Uber to come get me from a diner a minute away from the hotel I was currently parked at. I walked all the way down there in the cheap heels I had to match my outfit. I wanted to look like a random woman heading to the club to have a good time hence the tight leather pants and a red crop top that showed too much boobs. I waited outside the diner till I saw the car pull up. “Amber?” The driver looked out the window and called out. I nodded and opened the door. I got in and shut it. I noticed him checking me out but I didn’t stop him. He drove in silence and I touched up my makeup while he was driving. He kept getting distracted and looking at me but I feigned ignorance. We finally got to the bar and I gave him cash and stepped out. The place was packed and I hoped the person I had tagged as my victim was here. I headed inside while plastering a smile on my face. I made sure I nailed the carefree look and I headed for the bar immediately. “Sunrise kiss”. I called out to the bar tender before sitting at one of the bar stools. The bartender gave me as salute before prepping my drink. Someone slid into the chair beside me. I looked at the person and my smile instinctively widened. It was my target; he hasn’t been formally introduced so that’s what I was going to keep calling him. “White Russian”. He brazenly ordered. He had an almost American scent but I knew he wasn’t. “Hey big guy, who are we here with tonight?” I asked smiling suggestively. He looked at me and sized me up. His eyes lingered on my exposed t**s briefly before he met my eyes again. He smiled at me and shook his head. “I’m here by myself”. He said leaning in slightly. “Well, someone like you can’t be alone. Let me keep you company tonight”. I said and moved my seat closer to him. The bartender came back with our drinks. I grabbed mine and brought it to my lips and sniffed it. I couldn’t smell anything wrong with it but I still didn’t drink. I acted like I took a gulp before placing it back down. I gave a satisfied sigh; he took a gulp of his while glancing sideways at me. His lips were pulled at the side in a smile. He dropped his glass down and looked at me. The DJ changed the sound and I perked up excitedly. “That’s my favorite song”. I stood up and dropped my dummy phone on the counter and went into the crowd of people. I moved according to the rhythm. In truth I didn’t like the song but I heard it a while ago at this club I went to in America so I knew it. I danced along with everyone, making exaggerated moves and made my face look like I was having a good time. After a while of dancing around, I noticed the target approaching and my smile widen. I stopped dancing and turned to him. He smiled as he got to me and placed both hands on my waist. I didn’t flinch but instead my smile widened. We swayed together and I made sure to touch him “accidentally” when dancing. He didn’t seem to mind and was enjoying himself. We danced for a long while till he looked over my head at something or someone then stopped. “What’s wrong?” I asked and he shook his head. He looked down at me before speaking. “I have to go”. He said and stepped away from me. I turned to look at who was pulling him away and I didn’t recognize the guy from the photos I studied back at home. He was different and apparently they answer to him. I went back to the bar and picked up the dummy phone and like I suspected he touched it. I smiled to myself before leaving. I walked outside for a while before calling another Uber. It took a while before it got there and this time I had the driver take me straight to the hotel. Once he dropped me off I paid him cash then went straight into the hotel. I went to the toilet and got rid of everything, from the wig to the clothes to the makeup to the contacts. I had hidden a dress here earlier, so I got the bag I put it in and got changed into that. I put the clothes I had worn into the toilet sink and lit it up. I walked out with my bag in hand. I shielded my face from the receptionist and cameras then went outside. I got into the car, turned it on then drove off. I went straight back home. Once I got down from the car with my bag I noticed Nate standing outside. He looked worried as f**k but I wouldn’t blame him. I was getting home pretty after leaving so early. He looked ready to throw a fit but Ezra ran outside followed by Xavier and I realized I was about to get into trouble. “Where did you run off to?” Ezra shouted at me. I was in too much of a good mood to have it ruined by his hot headedness. “To see a friend, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that”. I shrugged but none of them were buying it. I grew up with Ezra so I knew when he wasn’t playing into my crap. “Well, I called Alicia and she wasn’t with you. So who’s this friend of yours?” I cursed in my head; I had forgotten to tell Alicia to cover for me. “It’s a male friend”. I said which wasn’t a complete lie. I had been out because of a man, but I wasn’t about to tell them the full reason. Ezra looked taken aback and so did Nate. I winced internally; Nate didn’t know as well, s**t. “Well, that’s a first”. Xavier muttered and I smiled at him. “Do you want the full details or can I go in now”. All of them looked like they just threw up in their mouths. I smiled at them before walking past. I went straight to mom’s room where I knew she’d be there with Aria. I knocked on the door when I got there and mom called out softly for me to get in. Aria was sitting between her mom’s legs and her hair was being braided. I smiled at the scene and it made me remember my mom. “Someone should have told me the girls were hanging out”. Aria smiled at me as I stepped into the room. I closed the door behind me. “Where did you run off too darling? Xavier nearly lost his wits”. Mom said and I sighed. “I didn’t mean to worry you or Xavier”. I said and sat down beside her. I loved that no matter what went on in the outside world or with the business Xavier was into, they still made sure we grew up with love around us. A few years ago I was the one in Aria’s place, and then Ezra would come in and wait till mom was done with my hair so she would take care of his. This house was filled with so many memories. It was here I met Nate and fell in love with him. I had all my best years here.
