Pride swelled in me as I watched Evangeline drive off.
Finally, Alex had chosen me.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried that he’d correct the sales woman. My heart pounded in fear and worry with each second they spent arguing. They whispered the entire time they argued, so I couldn’t hear them well, but each time they glanced at me, I knew it was about me.
“Come on, Alex,” I said grabbing his arm as soon as Eva was gone. “Let’s test drive the car.”
He hesitated for a moment before turning to me, a small smile on his face. “I don’t think I have it in me. Just tell me if you like the car and I’ll pay for it.”
