CHAPTER 004

She woke up so early with excitement that Monday morning, due to the mail she received last night. She was hurriedly dressing up when James woke.
“Sweetheart” he paused and continued, trying to regain consciousness, “you're up so early, any issue?”
“Nope babe” she replied, her face had a radiant smile. The joy she had was overwhelming. “I have to rush back home babe” she continued.
“Why? Did I do something wrong?” He asked.
“No baby, you are a sweet soul rather” she said.
“So what's going on?” He asked again.
“Babe guess what” she paused and listened.
“Nope babe, you know I'm not good at guessing. What happened?” He frankly said.
“Okay, just calm your nerves” she said, taking in the air so she could spill it out.
“You're making me tense, are you pregnant?” He asked. He became even more serious now.
“Nope! Calm down, okay“ she said with a beautiful smile still stuck on her face.
His tension reduced, so he said, “Okay, I'm listening—”
“—I just got a job, babe” She cut in with surprise in her face and her jaw wide open.
“Ohh, okay” he said, as though his expectations had dropped.
“Okay? Seriously?” She shouted in surprise because that wasn't what she was expecting.
“What babe?” He asked, wondering what he had done wrong.
“Don't bother” she said, I'm a slightly angry tone.
“No babe, it's not what you think” he paused and waited for a reply. None came through, so he continued, “Not that am not happy for you okay? It's just that I wasn't expecting that”.
She was still silent but packing her stuff to leave, but held her hands and kept apologizing.
“C'mon babe, I'm sorry” he said, “and I mean it”.
She paused because she was ready to go and then replied, “It's fine, I am not annoyed anymore”.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
“Yes” she said.
“Are you sure?” He asked again.
“Yeah, sure, why would I lie?” She asked with surprise in her face, “Please, I have to go now so I won't be late for my interview”.
“Are you leaving without a kiss?” he asked as she was close to the door.
She paused and replied with a funny accent, “Maybe”.
“C'mon babe” he said.
She stopped, turned back and said, “Okay, come get your kiss”.
They kissed twice. The first kiss was short, so James drew closer for another because he wasn't satisfied with the first. The second child was quite long, but passionately intimate.
“It's okay babe, you want to make me go late?” She said when she took off her lips.
“I love you babe” he said, looking straight into her eyes.
“I love you too, bye” she said as she left.
“Byeeee” he said as he watched her move down the steps, till she reached the street and entered a cab.
She rushed back home so she could prepare for her interview that morning. When she got home, her Mom was peeling off some vegetables, while her Dad was sleeping.
“Where are you coming from” Mrs Gabriel asked.
“Mom, you're up already?” Tina asked, as she wasn't aware her Mom was awake.
“Yep, and I asked where you were coming from?” She insisted.
She knew her Mom was serious so she didn't want to lie to her, James' place”, Tina said anxiously.
“Without telling us?” she asked.
“I'm sorry Mom, I thought I told you earlier yesterday”, Tina explained.
“It's fine” She said.
Tina smiled and was about to leave when her Mom called her back.
“Sweetie, what happened, why do you look so happy?” her Mom asked.
“Nothing, ma” Tina said, “I’m good”.
“Was he strong with you in bed last ni–” Her Mom wanted her to ask.
“—Noo Mom, not that” Tina objected. “Like I said, it's nothing, ma”.
“Alright, if you say so” she said.
“Yep Mom” Tina said as she hurriedly walked into her room to take a cold shower and a change of clothes. The interview she was preparing for was at THE ANDERSON'S COMPANY LIMITED, a very popular multi-million company, and it was slated for 8:00 AM, and she didn't want to be late.
After the cold shower, she ran through her closet in search of clothes to make her look good and appear recommendable, but it took her to actually find one. After about 15 minutes of thorough searching, she just decided to go in a white shirt, navy blue trousers and a black jacket.
When she was done, she was about to leave when her mouth stopped her.
“Now where are you going again?” She asked.
“To go see a friend, ma,” Tina said.
“So early?” She asked. “Isn't it too early?” She asked again.
“Mom, it's really important, see you when I am back” Tina said as she quickly rushed out to avoid more questions.
“Alright” she replied faintly.
Tina quickly got a cab, but it got delayed as the traffic became so intense that she reached there by 9:05 AM. So, was so annoyed that despite her hastiness to come on time, she couldn't.
When she reached the gate of the company, she was directed to the receptionist's office. The further she went, the more tense she became as she could feel her feet getting cold in the heels she wore.
When she walked in, the building was extremely large on the outside, but the inside was even more beautiful and magnificent. The building was made of glass and the interior was exotic and this made her eyes widen.
“Hi?” called the receptionist, awakening her as she was lost in the beauty of the company.
“Hii” Tina said, turning to the receptionist, “I'm sorry about that. I was lost” she continued.
“It's fine, it's such a beautiful place” she said.
“Yeess” Tina agreed with a smile.
“So what brings you here? You have an appointment?” She asked.
“Ohh, actually I came for an interview” Tina said.
“Okay, for the post of secretary?” she asked.
“Yeah” Tina said.
“Okay, hold on” she said as she picked up her telephone and made a call. This gave Tina the time to survey the environment and it was very lovely.
The receptionist soon hung up and said to her, “come, follow me”. Tina followed her but she was very anxious and scared but had to get herself composed so she doesn't blow this off. So she kept motivating herself because she knew she had to get the job.
Her hands felt sweaty, her heart raced as she kept breathing in and out so she could gather courage for the interview.
“This is where I'll stop and leave you” the receptionist said, pointing to the door.
“Ok ma'am, thanks” Tina said.
She was really tense. She paused for a while, prayed and the knocked. She heard a voice say “come in” so she entered, but she was in great shock as her eyes widened at the person she saw.
