Chapter 4The sound of a distant boom woke him from a midday nap. He hadn’t intended on falling asleep, but Henri had a nightmare and was up until early in the morning. Cillian awoke in confusion. He wondered what could possibly make that noise. Were they under attack? Their ship passed through the middle of nowhere as far as star systems were concerned, and it seemed incredibly unlikely that another alien species with space travel capability had found and shot at them. Especially since they were going faster than light.
Then, what was it?
At once, worry washed over him. What if it was the engine room? Could something be wrong with the mechanisms that helped move the ship? He got up quickly, threw on some clothes, and sprinted out the door.
His chest was burning, and he had a sharp pain
