CHAPTER 13. FRIVOLOUS STARE GRACIAS’S POV …… My hand was held by sweaty hands. I looked to meet Jude gaze. Cold distance yet attached. His face lit up. “You are awake,” he said, stroking my head. Was it in my imagination? I tried seating and he hurriedly helped me to. He was acting out of line. He tried to hold my hand and avoided it. Such a schemer. “Are you hungry?” He asked, his face blank. “What happened yesterday?” I asked. He looked away, no words, no answer. Just his back turned to me. “From today I don't need to guide you,” he said and moved out of the bed. Standing by the door he said, “You aren't the danger…I am the danger” He was answering yesterday's question. But was there any truth to what he said? I couldn't be bothered with him. Besides, I loved a soft life. As long as my mother wasn't in danger, then everything was good. I wasn't sick. I hurried out of the and ran to the bathroom. I had class. After minutes, I came out to find him gone. Where could he have gone? Looking around, his things were still there. I thought he had gone back to where he belonged. I hope he won't return. Though he said I wasn't in anymore danger I still had to watch my back. Suddenly living in fear. A life I never thought would ever happen. Walking my way to school, there wasn't any danger felt. Just like my usual day. No suspicious fellow, no strange people. But I couldn't shake the feeling I was his shackles. His gaze, his reaction yesterday. Maybe he was protecting me from what I didn't know. I hope I never stop having this carefree lifestyle. I saw Lucy. She was wearing peach red. A new dress. “My baby,” she said, running into my arms. “Why did you disappear yesterday?” She asked. I held her hands not knowing what to do. Should I tell her? Tell her what? That I got entangled with a dangerous thug and almost lost my life three times in three days? Thinking about it I chuckled subconsciously. It was hilarious. “Nothing” I said. Taking her hands into mine. “Let's go to the Library the class has be cancelled” I took a deep sigh and followed her. To our usual spot. We sat there smiling at each other. “Who was that guy yesterday?” She asked. Her eyes are tasty for some gossip. I didn't want to fill it, it would sound absurd. “Someone from MANDULA” I lied. It was best to keep her in the dark until I knew what was actually going on. “He looked so handsome,” she said, frowning. “Wait, you guys looked more like couples,” she said with a smile. I shoved her hands away. I retorted, “Don't let too much romance destroy your thinking” I said shooting her a deadly glad. “Alright” she said smiling. “Give me his phone number,” she said. Grinning. “He is a thug” I pouted my lips suppressing my thoughts that were already running wild, “If he isn't a mafia gang” I whispered underneath my breath. “A bad guy?” She said, smiling. “Shut up, let's go to the gym,” I said, grabbing her hands. Looking far from the end. A familiar figure stood in the crowd. “What is she doing here?” I ran outside. The moving crowds had covered her. I checked my phone to know if she had called me, but no missed calls. My heart beat quickened. She is supposed to be in MANDULA, Why is she here in Meche? I frantically searched the crowd for her Then someone tapped me from behind. “GG” I turned. It was Jude, someone standing beside him.
