CHAPTER 2
CUSHIONED THREAD
JUDE'S POV
A smile crouches my lips looking at the shot door.
I thought she was strong headed.
I stared at the locked door. My hand gripping the door handle.
“Open the door” my voice, cracking colds.
The whole place fell dead cold and quiet. That was my least concern.
“I have already promised not to kill you yet” my voice cranky.
I heard no movement from the other side.
I struck the door hard.
“Don't let me break the door” my icy voice shook the whole room.
Gently I poke my hand into my pocket. I stared down at the gun in my hand.
Shooting open the door was my only option.
If not, what if she called the police? The police weren't a problem, I just wasn't ready to deal with nuisance or blow my cover.
I heaved a heavy sign and shot the door handle, pop…pop…pop.
The door handle shattered.
I could hear her screaming voice.
I smiled, yeah that terror. It was satisfying.
I cracked the door open, and there she was. Her little figure curled up in a corner.
“Didn't you promise not to kill me yet?” She asked with panic written all over her face.
I bent over, my eyes scanning through her face.
She was such a beauty, more beautiful than the photos.
Too bad she was meant for the lab.
I yanked her up, her hands trembling.
“Please don't kill me,” she begged, tears streaming down her face.
She looked too delicate, too fragile for what was ahead.
She can't be sent over like this. She needs a pivot into the distress she doesn't know yet.
I smiled coldly.
“What's your name?” I asked, lifting her chin.
She refused to look at me. Her tough girl has vanished.
Her lips quivering, “Gracias” she whispered.
“What?” I asked again.
“My Name is Gracias” her voice low and head slightly bent, but she remarkablely beautiful in despair.
I smirked. My eyes greased her.
“Don't do anything funny,” I said.
She nodded but I knew it wasn't compliance.
I watched her crawl on her feet to the chair. She sat at the edge.
Her face was covered in sweat. She looked away. “What a timid girl” I whispered.
She wasn't a tough girl after all.
I signed and waved my hand at her.
She walked slowly to her room. Her knees barely carried her legs.
After a minute, I quietly walked towards the door.
She quickly hid something away.
I hurried over.
I grabbed her hand. Sure enough she holding her phone
“Hello GG” a voice called from the phone.
Just as I thought, she was calling for help.
I grabbed her chin up.
My hand tracing her face.
My jaw tightened and her hold and the phone tightened. Her heart beat faster than an engine.
She looked down.
She wasn't just looking, her eyes was scanning.
I chuckled softly.
I let her go. I wanted to see what she wanted to do.
She sprinted towards the door, there was a small knife.
She picked it up hurriedly and ran to the living room. She frantically looked back.
I stared at her foolish figure headed for the door. I followed her.
The door was locked.
I already locked it. The grin on my face grew wilder.
“You want to run?” I asked teasingly.
“Okay go ahead and run” a sarcastic smile escaped my lips.
She tried to open the door, but she couldn't. Of course she couldn't.
“Here is the key” I waved it in the air.
She froze. Her already frozen face dropped more.
Gently I drew closer.
“Stay back, don't come close” her voice quivered.
“What a reckless i***t” I said and covered the gap between us.
She drove the knife towards me.
I caught it. My face darkened.
She has the nerve?
She wasn't really useless.
I grabbed her hair, my face twisted.
“Did you dare harbor killing intent?” the cold in my voice cutting through her clenched teeth.
She just stared at me in horror.
“Don't worry…You will be trained for it” my smile got creepier.
“Bang…bang…bang” there was a heavy bang on the door.
Immediately her face lit. She had a smug look on her face.
I stared at her. “Interesting”
I shoved her to the floor and walked towards the door.
A light chuck escaped my lips upon seeing the people at the door.
I didn't need to open the door, I just had to make a call and they all would disappear.
I scrolled through my phone.
I dialed a number. It connected.
“Send your men back from Street 17”
Her gaze burned deep into my face.
A smile spread across my face.
“Miss Gracias…I am Jude. Nice meeting you” a gentle smile spread on my lips as stretch out my hand for a shake.
