As the doc promised, I was released Thursday afternoon. Steve was there to pick me up and take me back to my house, along with a bag of dressings for my arm, meds, a sling to keep the arm immobile, and an appointment for a checkup the following Monday. Steve honked the horn just before we turned off Pinecrest onto the Lane. That was my first hint I wouldn’t be going straight into the house. My second was the Welcome Home sign stretched above the front porch. The third? The fact almost everyone on the Lane was standing on the front lawn.
