The day moved fast and slow at the same time, the way days did when something large was coming.
Fast because there was too much to do, every hour full, Riven running the team briefings while Dex coordinated with the wolves Caden had promised for the route. The counter-measure specs were tested and confirmed functional. Coran sat at the records table for two hours and walked Gideon through everything he remembered about the facility layout, his voice steady and careful, not letting age or shame slow down a single detail. I sat in on that session and took notes, the same way I had taken notes in the meeting with Caden, because information needed a place to go and I was the person in this lodge who had always made sure it had one.
