Episode 3: The First Command

1738 Words
The Blackwood estate was a sprawling, gothic mansion nestled deep in the woods, miles away from the prying eyes of the city. The iron gates closed behind us with a heavy, final clang. The sound echoed through the night like a death knell, a reminder that I was no longer in my world. I was in his. The drive from the city had been silent. Adrian had driven himself, his hands gripping the steering wheel, his jaw set. He hadn't spoken a word to me since we left his office. He didn't need to. His presence alone was enough to fill the car with tension, a heavy, suffocating weight that pressed down on my chest. I watched the city lights fade in the rearview mirror, replaced by dark, winding roads and towering trees. The rain had stopped, but the world outside was still wet and gray, the moon hidden behind thick clouds. I didn't know where we were going. I didn't know what awaited me. I only knew that I had signed a contract, and I was bound to see it through. The moment I stepped through the heavy oak doors, I realized how far out of my depth I was. The foyer was a masterpiece of dark marble and crystal chandeliers. The floors gleamed like polished glass, reflecting the flickering candlelight from the massive iron sconces on the walls. A grand staircase curved up toward the second floor, its banister carved from dark, ancient wood. Portraits of stern-faced men and women lined the walls, their eyes following me as I walked. The Blackwood ancestors. The Lycan Kings who had come before him. The staff—a mix of shifters and humans—kept their eyes on the floor as we passed. They were terrified of him. I was beginning to understand why. The sheer weight of his Alpha power pressed against my skin, making it hard to breathe. It was a constant, oppressive force, a reminder that I was in the presence of an apex predator. I was led to a lavish suite on the third floor by a silent maid. She didn't speak. She didn't look at me. She just opened the door, gestured for me to enter, and disappeared down the hallway. I stepped inside, my breath catching in my throat. It was bigger than my entire apartment. A king-sized bed draped in black silk dominated the center of the room, its headboard carved from dark, polished wood. A walk-in closet stood to my left, its doors open, revealing rows upon rows of clothes in my exact size. Expensive, designer clothes. Silk dresses. Cashmere sweaters. Leather boots. Clothes meant for a queen, not a rogue architect. I walked to the closet, my fingers brushing against the soft fabric. I had never owned anything so beautiful. I had never even dreamed of owning anything so beautiful. And yet, it all felt wrong. It felt like a cage dressed in silk. The door clicked shut behind me. I spun around. Adrian was standing in the doorway, his arms crossed over his broad chest, watching me with that unreadable, predatory stare. He didn't move, didn't speak, just let the silence stretch until it was suffocating. The air in the room grew thick, charged with an energy I couldn't name. My wolf stirred inside me, a low, nervous whimper. "Rule one," he said softly. "You will call me Alpha when we are in this house. Or Sir, if I am correcting you. You will not speak to me as an equal." I swallowed hard, my throat dry. "Yes... Alpha." "Better," he murmured. He walked toward me, each step measured and deliberate. He stopped right in front of me, his presence overwhelming, radiating heat and dominance. I could smell him—sandalwood, cedar, and something darker. Something primal. It made my head spin. "The rules are simple, Lily. When we are in this bedroom, you belong to me. You do not speak unless spoken to. You do not touch me unless I give you permission. And you will never, ever turn your back on me without asking." My heart hammered against my ribs. "And outside this bedroom?" "Outside this bedroom, you are my guest," he said, his voice softening just slightly. "You will attend functions with me. You will play the part of the perfect, devoted Luna. You will smile, you will charm, and you will obey. But when we return here..." He reached out, his fingers brushing the collar of my dress. A shiver ran down my spine, my n*****s hardening against the thin fabric of my shirt. His touch was feather-light but burned like a brand. I wanted to pull away. I wanted to lean in. I didn't know what I wanted anymore. "Tonight is a test," he whispered, his voice dropping to a dangerous, intimate register. "I want to see how well you follow instructions. I want to see if you can truly submit. If you can't, I will have to train you." He stepped back, his eyes hardening. "Take off your dress. Slowly." I froze. The air left my lungs. I knew this moment was coming, but the reality of it—the sheer vulnerability of standing naked in front of this dangerous, powerful man—made my hands shake violently. My mind raced, a thousand thoughts colliding at once. I could run. I could refuse. I could tell him to go to hell. But Toby's face flashed in my mind. His pale, sweating face. His pained howls. The doctor's voice, telling me there was nothing more they could do. This is for Toby, I reminded myself, chanting it like a prayer in my head. You can do this. He is just a man. He is just a man. "I said," he repeated, his voice cold as ice, "Take it off. Do not make me ask again." My fingers moved to the zipper of my dress. I could feel his eyes on me, burning into my skin, watching every movement. The zipper slid down, the sound loud in the silent room. The fabric loosened, and I let it fall, pooling at my feet. I stood before him in nothing but my underwear, my body trembling, my heart pounding. He didn't move. He didn't speak. He just looked at me, his stormy eyes raking over my body with a predatory intensity that made my knees weak. I wanted to cover myself. I wanted to disappear. But I stood there, my chin lifted, my eyes meeting his. I would not cower. I would not break. "Beautiful," he murmured, a low, appreciative growl rumbling in his chest. "You are even more beautiful than I imagined." Before I could respond, a loud, demanding knock echoed through the suite. Adrian's head snapped toward the door, a vicious snarl ripping from his throat. The air in the room suddenly felt heavy, charged with the oppressive, suffocating force of his Lycan power. The windows rattled in their frames. The crystal chandelier above us trembled. I had never felt anything like it. The sheer, unbridled power of an Alpha on the edge of losing control. "I said we were not to be disturbed!" he roared, his voice laced with a terrifying, beastly growl. The door creaked open, and a stunning woman with long, elegant legs and a cruel, painted smile stepped inside. She smelled of expensive perfume, diamonds, and malice. Her blonde hair cascaded down her back in perfect waves, her blue eyes glittering with a cold, predatory light. "I'm sorry to interrupt, Adrian," she purred, her eyes landing on me with undisguised disgust. "But we need to talk about the gala. I didn't realize you were... busy with your little pet project." Adrian's eyes flashed pure, molten gold. His wolf was dangerously close to the surface, his fingers curling into claws. The air in the room grew colder, heavier, charged with a violence that made my skin prickle. "Victoria," he said, his voice dangerously quiet. "Leave. Now. Before I do something we both regret." Victoria smirked, her eyes lingering on me, cataloging my cheap dress and trembling hands. I wanted to disappear. I wanted the floor to swallow me whole. But I stood there, my chin lifted, my eyes meeting hers. I would not let her see my fear. "Don't worry, I'll go," she said, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. "I just wanted to see the rogue you dragged in from the streets. I give her a week before she runs back to the gutter where she belongs." She turned and walked out, leaving the door wide open. The click of her heels echoed down the hallway, a fading, mocking rhythm. Adrian stood motionless, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles were white. The tension in the room was suffocating, a living, breathing entity. I could feel his rage, a physical heat that radiated from his body, filling the space between us. "Get on your knees," he commanded, not looking at me. My breath caught in my throat. "What?" He turned to me, his eyes blazing with barely restrained fury, a storm of jealousy and possessiveness. "I said, get on your knees, Lily. Now. And don't you dare move until I tell you to." I stared at him, my heart racing. Every instinct told me to run. To fight. To tell him exactly what I thought of his commands. But the memory of Toby, pale and dying in his bed, flashed in my mind. I lowered myself to my knees. The cold marble floor bit into my skin, a sharp, painful reminder of my place. I kept my eyes on the ground, my hands resting on my thighs, my body trembling. I didn't speak. I didn't move. I just knelt there, waiting. Adrian walked toward me, his footsteps slow and deliberate. He stopped right in front of me, his presence overwhelming, radiating heat and dominance. I could feel his eyes on me, burning into my skin. "You are mine now," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "And you will learn to obey. You will learn to submit. You will learn to please me. And if you don't..." He reached down, his fingers tilting my chin up, forcing me to look into his eyes. They were blazing gold, the eyes of a predator. The eyes of a king. "I will break you," he whispered. "And I will enjoy every moment of it."
