Aidan’s POV “Aidan!” Vanessa’s voice sliced through the room like ice. Maya jerked away from me so quickly that she nearly lost her balance again. I released her waist immediately, watching as she stumbled back several steps until she was standing beside the desk. Her breathing was uneven, her cheeks flushed, and she refused to lift her eyes from the floor. The study fell silent. Vanessa stood in the doorway, one hand still resting on the brass handle. Her gaze moved slowly between us before settling on my whiskey-soaked shirt. Then it drifted to Maya.
