Chapter 9 Old Faye seemed to sag into herself after her story was told, as if we’d exhausted her. Sinda touched the woman’s cheek tenderly, the first glimpse of any warmth I had seen in the girl, then motioned for us to follow her. As we walked away, I glanced back and noticed Old Faye was already beginning to doze, her head fallen forward slightly.
