Chapter 22 a year had gone by

1053 Words
Alpha Roman Black’s P.O.V   I was looking through the maps of the forest, trying to see if there were any caves or dens that Hope could possibly be hiding in. I knew all the packs and where they were located, but I knew she would never go to a wolf pack, would she? Shelly came over and was helping me look through them all, but it was stressing me out. I needed to find her and I needed to find her now.   “You know when I was getting her ready for her first shift ceremony, I got a good look at her body and there were so many scars on her back and the back of her legs, it looked like she had a tree growing on her back with how they were all branching out from one another. Maybe we should think about visiting her old pack to see what she had done. Did she escape from the cells or something because she might have lied to us and she might have done something horrible. No one gets scars like that for doing nothing.” Shelly said and I nodded. Maybe she was right, they wouldn't have beat her for no reason, so what had she done?   “It's a great idea, but we don't know what pack she was from. She did tell us, but for the life of me I can't remember.” I replied and she sighed.   “Yeah, you're right. She told us what her old pack was called and who the Alpha was, but I can't remember either. I have to admit I wasn't really listening when she was talking, but it seemed like she was too scared to tell us in case we took her back there or something.” Shelly said and I nodded. How could I forget what she told us, oh yeah I was too busy trying to convince her not to be scared. She was so nervous and jumpy when she first woke up and I was trying my hardest to control my urges, but it was hard and I mean really hard. Hope was so beautiful and it was extremely distracting.    “Things were definitely strange with that girl, she likes to hide a lot of her past.” I replied and she nodded in agreement. We carried on looking at the maps and over the next few weeks we went to every single cave and den, but none of them looked like they had even been lived in. We looked in the tallest trees and the shortest, but we never found her. A Year Later….   Hope’s P.O.V   Roman and his pack were looking for me everywhere, but what they didn't know was that I was never too far away from them, watching their every move. I was always one step ahead of them, when they searched high I stayed low and when then searched low I stayed high. I had gotten to know this forest like the back of my hand, this was my new home and I knew every single trick to get away. I watched as they set up traps, trying to catch me and I would purposefully set them off, making them think that they had caught me. I would laugh when I saw them but I tried to keep my laughs quiet so that they wouldn't hear me. It had been a whole year since I last saw Rick, but I didn't want to put him in danger. Roman had been looking for me for a year non stop, setting traps and always looking in caves and dens for me, but they obviously didn't know me as well as they thought because I never stayed in caves or dens. I saw animals go in them and I didnt want to end up face to face with any of them, especially while I was in my human form. Thankfully they finally gave up at the end of a long year and went back to their pack. I could finally relax a little after that and went to the small waterfall that was hidden behind a small mountain. I sat down in the water and relaxed, as the cold water cooled my skin.   Alpha Rick’s P.O.V   I was pacing back and forth in my office, it had been a whole year since I had seen or heard from Hope and I was worried sick. I didn't even know where to start looking for her because I didn't know where she could possibly be. It was late at night and I was so exhausted, but I had made the decision that if she did come here tomorrow, then I was going to go out and look for her. I just needed to know that she was alright, even if she rejects me I still needed to make sure and at least I would know that she was safe. I walked up to my room and closed the door behind me, preparing for another sleepless night.   “I was wondering when you were going to come up here, I was going to leave if you didnt come up here in the next twenty minutes, but you made it with seven minutes to spare.” A woman said and I jumped a mile in the air when I heard her voice. I turned to see who it was and it was her, she was finally here. My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest when I saw her. I was so happy that I walked straight to her, hugging her, but then she stiffened up. I thought about letting her go, not wanting to make her uncomfortable, but then she relaxed into my arms.    “Are you okay? I was so worried about you. It's been a year and I thought something might have happened to you.” I replied, letting her go slightly and looking her over to see if she was injured in any way, but then she nodded. She walked away from me and sat on the edge of the bed, patting the space next to her and gesturing for me to sit down. Oh my Goddess, this was it, she was going to reject me.
