Kayla's POV
For years, I watched from afar, my heart racing everytime Jake smiled. I dreamt a million times of the day, he'll notice me. And today my dream finally came through. I took a deep breath and tried to concentrate on what Mr. Park was teaching, but for the first time, in a long time, I couldn't make sense of what Mr. park was saying.
i tried to remain calm, but I felt my heart raced and my checks flushed anything I felt the wait of his intense gaze on me. I could hardly believe it - after all this years of being invincible to him, I have finally catch his attention
After Mr. park's class, I packed my things about to head towards the next class, when I saw a group of people stop by my desk. I raised my eyebrows, and looked up. My heart nearly stopped, when I gaze into those forest green eyes. Jake gazed directly into my eyes for a few seconds and said "Nice look" and walked out of the class, with his killer smirk that can melt any girl's heart, accompanied by his teammates.
As the school bell rang, signaling the start of lunch break, my best friend and I walked into the cafeteria. As we entered the cafeteria, I could hear a lot of students, whisper about my new look. I even heard one boy, who said he'll surely bang me. Some girls were admiring my new look, while others were giving me deadly glares - but who cares.
I scanned the cafeteria in an attempt to see Jake but he's no where to be found. After we were done eating, we had only five minutes before the start of the next class. I rushed to my locker to pick up my notebook for the next class. As I walked to my locker to grab my notebook, I noticed Jake standing at his own locker, with a knowing smirk that disappeared moment it appeared, like he never smirked. It was almost as if he knew I'll be there.
"ah, there you are!, for a second I thought I was waiting here for nothing". He murmured under his breath, leaning casually against his locker. I ignored him and opened my locker, retrieve the notebook. He has never spare me a glance not to talk of talking to me, and I didn't want to disgrace myself by responding to him. what if I'm not the one he's referring to.
"what happened to you? you've totally changed!" I heard him asked. I was over the moon with a mixture of joy and disbelief. Could it be that after all this years, I have finally made an impression. I didn't let my excitement make the better of me, so I composed myself and asked
" what did you say? are...are you talking to me?. I pointed a finger at myself, with my one eyebrow raised. He chuckled at my attempted denial, clearly amused by my actions.
"Don't play dumb with me nerd. You heard what I said". He said still staring at me.
"Just wanted to try something new" I replied, a shy smile creeping on to my lips.
He stayed there, leaning on his locker, staring at me for a few seconds, but he ended up coming out of his own thought, when he realized he was staring at me for a while.
" You look beautiful today" he said gazing straight into my eyes. "Thank you" I said, and smiled shyly. I was cool on the outside, but exploding with excitement on the inside. I can't believe, Jake Carter, the most popular boy in Greenfield high, told me I am beautiful.
I was standing there, smiling like an i***t, the sound of his shoes contacting the floor drove me out of my thoughts. I stood there and watched until his back faded into the classroom.
As the day continued, I walked around the school, with smiles on my face like I had won the biggest lottery in the whole world. By the end of the day, I was on cloud nine. I have not only grab Jake's attention, but also made few friends.
As I walked home, I couldn't help but smile, my heart full of hope. Sometimes the little change can lead to the most beautiful transformation, not just on the outside, but within too. And as for me I realized my courage has opened a door. I know that this is just the beginning of a new chapter in my life. One where I'll no longer be invincible.
